PincushionEe48 a-b

A brown leather jacket (part a) fits over a folded cotton pin-cushion (part b) which opens to reveal a pocket to store needles. A large steel neddle, and strip of wool are inside. The cushion is covered in red-dyed cotton, and bound at the bottom in a leather piece which has two metal eyes, and a leather pull-tab. Braided cord strap.

Man's cloak in 2 sections, stitched together with red, turquoise, orange and natural wool. Woven horizontal and vertical striped design, along edge in brown, band of two red and one black stripes, orange at very edge, and band of orange, green, red, turquoise and black run parallel to edge. At ends, a parallel bands run perpendicular to edge. Red, black checker, orange and green bands, as well as solid black stripe, and band of black between red lines. Band of wool warp threads only near fully woven ends.

Woman’s dress with fitted bodice, standing collar, long full skirt and long sleeves; made of coarse, deep red wool textile. The opening is at the centre front, with a rectangular extension that overlaps the bodice front, right over left. No fastener. The extension is embellished with decorative piping and three decorative cloth buttons at the waist. The textile was woven in narrow strips (about 20 cm) that are pieced together at the selvages to provide sufficient widths. The full skirt is gathered onto the bodice with small pleats; there are 32 cm slits in the hem at each side. All edges are faced with bias strips of turquoise/blue cotton broadcloth (roughly 5 cm wide). Hand sewn.
