Bodice3425/4 a-b

Woven bodice (part a) with embroidered band across top. At centre, there is a white diamond, with the diamond shape radiating out from the centre in black and white sideways V's. Two black fabric shoulder straps are sewn on one end, and pinned in place by safety pins on the back. The upper section of the bodice fastens at the back with metal hook and clasps, leaving the bottom fabric open and drapey. The headband (part b) matches the embroidery on the bodice. It is composed of two pieces of fabric with bilaterally symmetrical designs, stitched together on one end, and attached by three small pieces of black elastic strap on the other. The interior is lined with black fabric. A typed label with the name "Deirdre Parkes" is stitched to the lining of the front, centre.

Hand Puppet3381/44

Hand puppet of a 'Minelvina' character (doll-like in form). The fabric body is light pink. Her face is white, and facial features are drawn. She has black eyes and nostrils, and a red mouth. She wears a long, shiny white dress that is gathered at the waist. Her feet are black fabric boots. Her red-brown hair is worn down, and worn under a white veil that extends the full length of her body.

String Puppet3351/8 a-g

Opera dei Pupi puppet of the character named Agricane (King of Mongolia). Three-dimensional marionette carved of wood (part a) with detachable head (part b) mounted on a long, hooked metal rod. He has a thick black moustache and long goatee. He wears a gold tunic, gold pantaloons adorned with vertical red bands, and a blue with gold brocade cape. He is heavily armoured on his body and shoulders, with guards on wrists, ankles and neck (part c). He wears a crown with pointed leaf projections and a long black wool train; he also has a red-yellow-black wool braided headband. The body is jointed at the elbows, shoulders, and hips – held together by fabric underneath main outfit. The left wrist has a length of black-brown cord tied to it, which also attaches a small circular gold shield, with an eight-petaled floral design, to the forearm. The right hand is clenched in a fist, which a small silver and gold-coloured metal sword (parts d-f) is inserted through, which also inserts through the eye of one end of a long metal rod (part g) with an eye hook on each end. Both hands are painted silver. There is a metal band across the bottom of each heel.

Hand Puppet3352/16

Calungo hand puppet of a 'Casimiro Coco' character. Head and hands are carved from wood and painted. He has black skin, glass eyes with sparkles, orange wool hair and beard, red lips and eyebrows, metal teeth and prominent white eyelashes. His jaw is hinged, and is operated by a control wire under his chin. He wears a basketry hat, with the rim wrapped with light blue ribbon. His fabric body / tunic is sky blue with large pink flowers and green leaves, with a cutout floral pattern within. The fabric is adhered to the hands and head. Operated by inserting a hand inside the body of the puppet to control its head and movements.

Fragment: Textile3263/1

Fragment of a mantle (shawl). Horizontal rows with designs inside of them, trimmed with patterned bands along their bottom edges, across entire surface. Overlaying, woven fringe tabs hanging from bands. The design elements along the left and right sides- the patterns, band and fringe- are dark brown and the design elements in the middle are red. Step pattern inside of the light brown horizontal rows, with wave motifs inside of them. Bands have two lines of light brown through them. The upper line has a wave motif through it, done in red, and the bottom line is plain.

Doll Parka3371/13

Small fabric outer parka with a wool inner coat. The exterior is grey-tan fabric with high cut sides and a long back flap. Dark green, dark blue, and red zigzag trim edges the hem and wrists of the outer coat. The hood is edged with fur, and a bright green, bright orange and black plaited tassel hangs from the top. The inner coat is made of off-white wool fabric with similar trim to the outer coat. Both sides have an additional triangular pouch.

Belt3363/3

Beaded belt with flap and long beaded neck strap. The belt is composed of two long rectangular strips of hide overlaid with red wool trade cloth that attach to a wide rectangular section of hide at centre. The two strips attach at the back with two mismatched metal buttons. The front section has a flap with red wool facing out, and interior lined with a burgundy with brown floral fabric. All edges finished with blue binding and edged with white beads. The strap is composed of two long pieces of red wool back with beige fabric attached at the neck. The strap has four matching beaded designs in light blue, light brown-yellow and black. The belt flap has three similar sun-like designs in a row in black, white, light pink, light blue, dark blue, and yellow-green. Two more mirrored beaded designs are on each hip in light blue, navy blue, light pink, violet and dark green.

Beaded bag composed of a long, thin shoulder strap and long semi-circular hide pouch, overlaid with red wool trade cloth and brown fabric. The front is stitched with a red and white checkered panel and flanked top and bottom two abstract designs in blue, clear, white, and black glass and seed beads. Edges finished with brown binding on the bag, and black binding on the strap. Edged overall in white pony beads.

Heavily beaded bag with long beaded neck strap. The rectangular pouch is heavily beaded with white and navy blue designs. The opening has a band of red wool trade cloth, hemmed with a dark yellow-green stitched trim, and is lined with white beads. Beaded design on front and back in clear, dark blue and light blues beads. The bottom of the bag is a flap, with red wool trade cloth on the exterior, lined with beige with black and red floral patterned fabric on interior. The strap has a continuous design in white beads down the centre.
