The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Woven wool belt with ornament. Belt is woven with images of a woman, plants, and an animal, interspersed with bars and decorative motifs in light tan on a red background, appearing in opposite colours on the reverse side. Green, pink, and yellow stripes run the length of the garment. From a fine cord at the bottom of the belt hangs a metal ornament depicting several masked figures in low relief. The other end of the belt has several braids attached to each other at their ends.
Small felted hat. Crown is tall, with a round top. Brim is narrow and lifted at the edge. A linen band surrounds the crown and is decorated with multicoloured embroidery in images of plants, butterflies, and animals, with a large pink flower to one side. Rim is embroidered with straight and zigzag lines.
Unlined wool skirt. Garment is made primarily from red wool, printed across the midsection with small black flowers each with a single sequin sewn at centre in green, red or gold. Near bottom, the printing is in a paisley style with moon shapes, flowers and decorative dots, with sequin and tubular plastic bead embellishments. A large bird with the head of a snake, wings partially unfurled, is placed on the front of the skirt, made entirely of sequins and beads. Waist of garment is covered in bright green synthetic fabric with a drawstring closure, and the same fabric is used to line the inside hem at bottom.
Wooden needles. Two needles are attached by a knotted string of twisted, light tan yarn passing through their eye holes. Needles are long and thin, thicker throught the top and midpoint, then narrowing to a sharp point at bottom.
Quipu, or string abacus. Five thin strands of twisted wool fibre are tied to a loop of similar construction. The cords each carry a series of knots, used as a counting or record keeping system. One holds a separate strand, tied near the top. Strands are coloured blue-grey, blue and tan, a mix of brown and tan, brown, and two are completely tan. The loop is light tan and grey-blue.
Woven textile fragment. Three thick lines run horizontally across the textile, coloured dark red, red, and dark blue. To the top on a light tan background sit a series of four animal(?) faces, similar but for colour, with square protrusions at top (horns?), thin rectangles to each side at the midpoint, and square eyes and mouth. Each face is of a single colour, either red, pink, or dark yellow, with eyes and mouths alternating between pink and blue. The faces are interspersed by small shapes in similar colours. To the bottom of the textile are the remnants of rectangular panels with red or pink background, holding shapes and figures in blue, dark yellow, and light tan.
Woven textile. Object has a brown base colour in a tight weave, topped by large geometric designs placed in diagonal lines across the surface. The stitches of the design are large, incorporating small areas of the base colour to create a dotted look. Designs are done in light cream and dark pink colours.
Wool and plant fibre doll. A small boat is constructed of unbleached fabric layered over a stiff framework, likely plant fibre or husk. Fine brown netting is wrapped around the ends of the boat and spans the length of one side between them. Three woolen figures sit inside the structure, each with a large head covered at back by a woven hood, red stitching for facial features, and arms constructed of plant fibre wrapped with yarn. Each wears a striped woven sweater and a burlap skirt.
Wool scarf. Garment is of medium length and relatively wide, increasing in width slightly toward one end. Long fringe sits at both ends. Weave is tight and unvarying, with horizontal stripes in shades of brown interspersed with two thick lines of red, pink and black. The stripes continue into the fringe.
Wool scarf. Garment is of medium length and relatively wide. Decoration is split into three panels of roughly the same width, running horizontally: both outer areas are filled with alternating lines of brown and dark tan, while the central panel is red with tan diamonds filled with triangular motifs. A line of green and orange runs through the centre, and edging consists of stripes in green, yellow, purple and pink.
