The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Wire and fur “ice worm” toy. A long piece of animal skin with the fur on it has been sewn around a long length of wire, which emerges from both ends. The fur is thick with long hair, in shades of brown with off-white. An oblong head has been created out of hide and protrudes from one end of the tail, with leather antennae, eyes, nose and beard, and a red felt tongue.
Long green belt, or sash, woven with multi-coloured patterns. Belt is relatively narrow, with stripes of short linear patterns in blue, green, red and yellow. Long twisted lengths of yarn hang from each end of the belt, most in a single colour, but two are twisted from red and white. A tassel is attached to the end of each one.
Finger woven red belt with multi-coloured pattern. The sash, or belt, is long and woven with lines of short diagonal stripes in blue, green, white and yellow on a bright red background. The wool is plaited into thick cords at each end, with the threads left long and unbraided.
Basket is rectangular but with rounded corners; sides flare out somewhat from base to rim. Made of sewn coils of wrapped cedar root bundles. Among the horizontal rows of the body are two rows of imbricated diamond shaped designs near the top and a single line of gammadion crosses near the bottom. Several thongs of hide are attached as loops through the basket near the rim; a braided fibre cord with a wide handle is also attached near the rim. The tumpline handle is woven with pink and brown wool in a diagonal pattern.
Cat-tail reed mat. Mat is made of a double layer of reeds laying parallel to each other, joined in a braid of reed and wool string at the top. Long twisted cords join the reeds together across the width of the mat, spaced at regular intervals. A thick woven plait falls down one side. Ends are contained by a wool string entwined around each strand near bottom.
Thick, off-white, twill weave blanket or robe. Densely woven, wrapped along the short edges, with a heavy, short fringe on the long edges. Small pieces of red wool are occasionally visible as caught up in the weave. (Various areas with condition issues, especially along lower edge.)
Quipu, or string abacus. Five thin strands of twisted wool fibre are tied to a light yellow cord. The five strands each carry a series of knots, used as a counting or record keeping system. One of the strands is a grey-green colour, another is brown and tan, and the remaining three are light brown.
Textile fragment in the shape of a simple face, slightly wider and curved at top, narrowing toward chin. Eyes and mouth are large, rounded spots of orange. The fragment is comprised of two layers of material, creating an open space between.
Woven textile constructed of fine strands of wool in an open weave resembling a grid. Large geometric shapes are incorporated into the piece by filling connected squares of the grid with extra strands of wool in criss-cross patterns. Small areas of the weave are stained pale orange.
Full size hammock. Hammock is made of many thin strands of rolled palm fibre running parallel on the horizontal plane, doubled over at the ends. Dyed and undyed stripes alternate. Two very long ties are strung through the fold at each end. Along the body of the hammock the palm fibre is bound by white wool braided in a fishtail pattern, running perpendicular to the palm. The last two braids on each end are dyed red. The braids finish in thin tassels that hang from the edges of the hammock.
