Man’s long, narrow, rectangular scarf or sash, heavily embroidered with multicoloured geometric and floral motifs and many mirrors. Arranged along the length of the scarf are sixteen square and rectangular blocks of embroidered designs, consisting of a variety of motifs, many different kinds of stitches and two styles of embroidery (kharek and pakka). The embroidery is so dense that it completely covers the background textile. The blocks of embroidery are separated by black “braid” formed from bundles of black cotton thread which is laid and couched with red thread. There is a border of silver and gold mirrors along all four edges, and the ends are embellished with green and pink beadwork and small red-orange silk tassels. A binding of dark green cotton muslin is machine-stitched along the outside edges. The underlining is pieced from plain and printed cotton and rayon(?) textile in various shades of red.
A green felt fabric beadwork purse with red beads along the sides. There is a red and white felt handle with green beads along the sides. The purse has a metal zipper with a red and white felt tag that has red beads forming the letters 'L', 'J', and 'L'. These letters are surrounded by lines of green, pink, and green beads. One side of the purse is decorated with an orange six-petaled flower outlined with blue and green on a white felt background with the sides surrounded by red, green, and red beads. The other side of the purse is decorated with a yellow beaded background with two red flowers outlined with light blue at the top corners, two clear yellow flowers outlined with pink and having a dark blue centre at the bottom corners, and a dark blue flower outlined with orange and accentuated with clear orange, clear yellow, dark blue, and purple-red beads in the centre.
A red-headed papier-mache puppet with horns, blue eyes, pink lips, and white teeth. The puppet has a brown felt dress with red mittens. There is a pink ribbon and a silvery-white fabric tied at the neck.
Bag-like basket with triangular flap top lid. Weave is of wide strips of bark; some visible squares of weave have coloured fabric squares sewn to them; two strips of felt - one red, one blue - are included in the weave that runs parallel to the diagonal edges of the top of the bag and the flap; a knotted rope is attached to the centre of the tip of the flap and wraps around a flat stick with rounded ends as a closure method.
Pair of man’s funeral shoes made of fine white leather. The sides are low, but there is an upward extension at the heel, which has a centre seam covered with five vertical cotton strings. Section covering toes is very short; the main body of each shoe is open. There is narrow piping finishing the vertical seam at the front of the toe section, and wider piping around the upper edge of the shoes. The soles are made of layers of natural brown leather slightly thicker at the toe and heel ends, and have numerous iron cleats at the front and heel. The soles are attached to the body of the shoes with a row of stitching around the edge of the soles, and there is a row of heavy, even stitches around the edge of the white leather. The shoes are lined with white leather, and have insoles of woven grey wool fabric.
Men’s off-white jacket. The jacket has a narrow collar stiffened with paper, a v-neck and an overlapping centre opening with long wide ties. The sleeves are long and wide with a rounded lower edge. The outside is made of silk; the inside is made of fine white cotton and padded.
Aymara-style carrying cloth or shawl composed of two rectangular pieces of woven cloth. Dark brown wool with very subtle bands of varying saturation. Four very thin red stripes run parallel with the pattern. Two of the red stripes are near the edges of the cloth and two are near the centre of the cloth. There is a seam down the centre, and it is sewn with black yarn.
Standing Kachina figure with stick across top of head, down from which extends wool and hair, white head with three black dots on face, alternating black and white ring around neck. Figure has torso with yellow on top and orange on bottom, white skirt with painted belt and apron, yellow legs with painted black ties around top, and grey boots with an orange, black and white design.
Light brown man’s jacket. The centre opening has front panels that overlap to the right when tied closed with two long thick ties. The outer facings of the v-neck are rounded at the lower edge. The neck is finished with a white collar or facing with crumpled paper inside. The long wide sleeves curve upwards at the wrists. The light brown ties are sewn at the ends of the outer facing and cut with pinking shears creating a zigzag edge. A thinner brown tie is attached to the right inner facing with a corresponding tie on the left underarm seam. There is a centre back seam. The inside lining is unbleached cotton.
Open-top hood made of dark red silk damask with added ear-flaps of blue silk damask edged and lined with white rabbit fur and filled with grey cotton batting. The red damask is patterned with three roundels, each with two dragons surrounding a Chinese character. The blue damask is patterned with bat ? shapes and a Buddhist swastika. The hood is constructed of two halves sewn together at the centre of the forehead and centre back, but with an opening at the top edged with black piping ending with a short slit at the back. The hood is cut straight across the forehead with two deep scallops edged with black piping on each side. It is edged entirely with two layers of skin with black fur, one facing inside and the other facing outside. A flat red silk cord woven with green and gold geometric designs crosses the opening from front to back, ending at the back in an elaborate knot made of pink and dark blue cord, below which are five red tassels wrapped in gold thread. At the front there an elaborate double knot of gold, pink, and yellow cord, below which are seven red tassels wrapped in gold thread. The hood is lined with bright green felt, and has fragments of paper attached to it with long white running stitches.
