Ceremonial DaggerIe443

A circular clay face with medium dark brown feathers on top and a bone point below that is convex on the front side while concave on the back side. The cowrie shell eyes are painted slightly red and are outlined with a black line extending upward toward its respective temple, which in turn, is outlined with red and white. There is a long black line running down along the middle of the face to the end of the nose. The top of the forehead is decorated with small cowrie shells. The lips are pinched to pout out and the mouth area is white.

Carved wooden yipwon (hook figure). A relatively flat long wood piece with a diamond-shaped knob at one end and four prong-like protrusions at the other end. Carved with a face underneath the end with the four prong-like protrusions. Seven holes carved out along the length of the wood piece.

Halibut Hook1248/5

Large "U"-shaped fish hook with fibre cording wrapped around angled end. A metal barb is secured to one end of the frame with fibre cording; barb points inwards. A hole goes through the opposite side of the frame to the barb from front to back.

Wooden whistle made of two hollow, semi-cylindrical pieces of wood held together by coiled stem. One end is solid and the other, with a smaller diameter than the rest of the whistle, is open. One piece of wood has a diagonal cut with a hole through to the centre near the open end.

A tall figure of a man with long legs bent slightly at the knees. He is holding a long thin curved shield with his right hand at the top and his left hand at the back. The shield has a reddish-brown side-by-side mirror-image spiral design on a white background. He has five grooves along the sides of his ribs, two sets of three downward pointing arrow-like grooves on his chest and a zig zag groove along the outside of his legs. His cheeks are grooved and his hair is painted black. His feet are standing on a tall thin angled stilt-like base.

Long wooden piece with nine projections that curve inwards and taper to a sharp point. The central projection is dome-shaped and is hollow in the centre. Either end of the piece have flat projections; one projection is hollow in the centre, and the other is solid.

Whistle1248/1

Cylindrical whistle made of two pieces of wood that tapers at one end to a mouthpiece for a whistle and at the other to a narrower round end; mouthpiece has one hole in end and one hole in diagonal cutout from one side. Three bands of coiled cord go around circumference: one just below the diagonal cutout and one at each end. The coils are wrapped around cutout areas so that they are flush with the overall surface. Resin is rubbed into fibre coils and along joins of the two pieces of wood; paper is adhered to resin along joins.
