Silver bracelet with clasp hook. The widest part of the bracelet is one end, with a slot where the narrowest part of the bracelet, at the other end, hooks into it. Carved with Salish style curved and oval designs from one end to the other, with one somewhat V-shaped, more linear design, at the wider end. Some of the designs show through to the inside. DS 85 faintly carved inside, at the wider end.
Weaving with a background of natural off-white wool. The design features a box created by a black and off-white checkerboard pattern with some brown-yellow within. This box is bordered by brown-red checkerboard with two black lines across the top, and three black lines across the bottom. Within the box, a series of horizontal bands with triangles and zigzags. Between the bands is a grid of four by four small sections of bold zigzag designs with small natural off-white sections in between (three by three). The loops along the top of the blanket are shorter than those along the bottom.
Salmon design inlaid on glass door. The salmon designs are a combination of "old style and contemporary". This style is very much unique to our Salish peoples.There is a flow to there direction as there is to our people as we move to "CHANGE IN WHO WE ARE,THE FISH ARE OUR LIFE LINE without we no longer exist. In the Spirit of the Ancestors-Robes like this are known as nobility blankets because they were worn by high-ranking Salish families who had the wealth to commission them. Sisters Debra and Robyn Sparrow have been leaders of the revival of Musqueam weaving. In the course of weaving this robe, the Musqueam community and the Sparrow family suffered a number of deaths, leading Debra and Robyn to call it a mourning blanket.
Weaving (part a) with hanging bar (parts b-d). Weaving has ground of natural white wool; design features a central rectangle consisting of columns of chevrons trimmed with triangles along the top and bottom edges. Red-brown, grey, and checked bands divide the columns. Chevrons are done in rows and alternate directions; done in black, white, and mint green. Top and bottom sides of rectangle are trimmed with white bands with red-brown triangles of varying sizes. Right side of box bordered with thin band of semi-circles and a striped line; left side has wavy lines with solid and dual-coloured diamonds. White, with red-brown, fringe along left, right and bottom edges; hanging pocket sewn on back, along top edge. Hanging bar (part b) consists of cylindrical rod with two animal heads on either end, to prevent weaving from sliding off (parts c-d). Animals are open-mouthed and their facial features are made up of formline design elements.
White wool weaving with long fringe attached to sides and bottom edge. The fringe is predominantly white, with pairs of long dark brown fringe spaced evenly throughout. Six rows of designs across entire surface; done in dark brown. From top to bottom, the designs are: plain thin line, wide line trimmed with thin ones on either side, wide vertical zigzags, checkered pattern with rectangles throughout, wide vertical zigzags, and wide vertical zigzags. Bottom edge bordered with band filled with chevrons.
