Fire cracked rock. Two quarter sized pieces with small grains of rock.
One plant fiber cordage fragment. The Field Catalog Form describes artifact as, "AR-207: Earth oven". Artifact Record #207 indicated artifact was excavated by Eugene Giles on July 27, 1953 at 5.9' from 5S2, 4.9' from 4S2 in Earth oven feature #7.
Woven reed matting fragment. Field catalog form shows AR-198 at field notebook #2. Eugene Giles excavated on July 27, 1953. Earth oven, feature #7. At 7.2 from 5S2, 5.7 from 4S2.
Grinding stone. Artifact Record #135 describes artifact as, "found in lite brown silt filled [with] small rock + occasional lg ones". Provenience is described as: 1S1-10, 9.6' vert. Artifact was excavated by Wm. Chambers, 7/16/1953. Z. Garcia, 03/09/2011.
One plant fiber cordage fragment. Field Catalog Form describes the artifact as a "braided reed, knotted," also described in the Artifact Record as #166. Artifact Record #166 describes the provenience as: 5.2' from 4, 3.4' from 4S1. The artifact was excavated by Griffin on 7/21/1953.
Cordage fragment; 2 strand s-twist. Original site name was "45KI8 (B)" in Arifact Book No 1. Field Catalog Form cross-references artifact as "AF-163." Artifact Record #163 describes object, "cordage." Artifact was found in pit B, 8" below stratum, 57" from the NE corner and 17" from the NW corner. Excavated by Giesa on 7/20/1953. A. Iannone 04/12/11.
Eight plant fiber cordage fragments. Smaller pieces are bagged inside larger bag. Field Catalog Form describes as: " 6 pieces 2-S cordage".
Wood; modified. The Field Catalog Form description reads: "wood shaft (?) Basketry--LOST; AR-173". Note: LOST is crossed out in the description. Artifact Record #173 reads:"Description: Basketry; Sq. or Pit: B; Surf D: 1" Below stratum; Loc. 9" of Stk. NE; 46" of Stk. NW." Z. Garcia, 03/15/2011. Oversize card labelled "Basketry" changed to "Modified Wood" (David Hunt, 05/26/11)
