Plant fiber 2-S cordage fragment. The Field Catalog Form describes the object as from unit 4S1-1, depth: .4' 2-S cordage. No associations were given. Excavated by Harvey Harmon and Mike Griffin on 8/4/1953 and 8/5/1953. 05/31/2011 I. Ostericher
Reed fragments. Field catalog form shows, "braided reed". No field notebook number. One bag containing 10 fragments of twisted cordage. The cordage is described in the field record catalog as: "Braided reed," "Assoc. w/ grass Mattius (burial?) firepit." (S.Iles, 5/2/2005) This item was previously flagged "NAGPRA Status Undetermined". In May of 2007, the item was further researched and determined instead to not be funerary-related based upon review of accession archives. Give that the Block Card for Unit 4S1 does not mention the presence of a burial, it is likely that these cordage pieces not funerary-related. (K. Chobot, 5/7/2007)
