Item Search

The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Cordage Fragment45KT20/240

One bag containing 4 fragments of twisted cordage. The cordage is described in the field record catalog as: "Braided reed, three strand." (S.Iles, 5/2/2005). Braid is 2-strand (L.Phillips, 1/19/2010). This item was previously flagged "NAGPRA Status Undetermined". In May of 2007, the item was further researched and determined instead to not be funerary-related based upon review of accession archives. Given that the Block Card for Unit 4S1 does not mention the presence of a burial, it is likely that these cordage pieces are not funerary-related. (K. Chobot, 5/7/2007)

Modified Plant Material45KI7A/13

Twelve rush fragments, and two cedar wood fragments, found in a bag marked "45-KI-7 pit 2 cordage-matting etc. 7/21/54 AM Reece" This material is from Shelter 7A in Whiskey Dick Creek. According to Swanson (1956, 1962), one pit (pit #1) was excavated. This material, from pit #2, was never mentioned in any notes or reports. There were no human remains found in this bag when it was located at the Burke Museum in 1995. It was, therefore, not considered grave goods. E. Scharf 7/31/95
