Wood is carved in a 'V' shape and a wooden barb carved separately is tied to one end of the 'V' with string. On the other end a string is tied and extends away from the hook ending in a knot.

A fairly smooth black stone with a long thin shape that is fairly triangular in cross section. One side is consistently flat, except for a slight horizontal bump. Two other sides are fairly rounded side-by-side mirror images of each other with a slightly tapered flat triangular section at an angle in between them to one end, creating a straight edge.
