Purple silk mittens (parts a-b) with a rounded end and a rectangular shaped body and opening. The top is decorated with a cat’s head outlined in green and white with embroider detailing of black eyebrows, green eyes, blue heart shaped nose and pink mouth. The underside has a large, circular hole, edge in black, exposing the inner red lining.

Pillowcase946/10

Pillowcase (a) composed of light blue cotton with an opening at the centre of the seam, which runs the length, and oval ends with dark blue silk borders that frame a red centre embroidered with a leaf and flower design in pastel hues. The oval ends are each supported by an oval piece of wood (b-c).

Coat946/33

Blue damask robe with short wide sleeves, side slits and side opening with gold frog closures. The damask is woven with a circular and floral pattern. The collar and border have lotus, peony and many bird motifs on a cream ground, edged with solid black and purple floral trim. The sleeve border has two bands on a cream ground; one with floral and butterfly motifs and the other with figures in boat scenes, edged with purple floral trim. The inside is lined with light blue silk and white cotton.

Door God Print946/44

Print of a civil official door god (如意加官), one type of civil door god (wen menshen; 文门神). The man is shown in a long robe, with small black goatee, a long black moustache, and a long, thin, black beard. He holds a military hat with a hanging banner with writing on it, 天官赐福 (Blessings from the Heavenly officials) in his right hand. In his left he holds a ruyi (如意, scepter). He wears a hat that has dark purple on the lower portion, purple-pink on the upper portion, and orange wing-like flaps pointing out to either side. The robe is red, green, purple, turquoise, purple-pink, orange and black. Figure faces right (viewer's left). The background is plain paper. The print is vertically rectangular.

Pair of bound foot shoes with slightly raised heels and pointed, upturned toes. Uppers are made with bands of green, blue, yellow and pink material sewn together. Elongated, rectangular tabs of white cotton at the back of the heel. A white cotton loop sewn at either side of the ankle. Lined with white cotton.

Zhang Xian the immortal Shoots the Heavenly Dog946/46

Rolled woodblock print that has also been painted, on paper. The image depicts two figures, Zhang Xian (张仙), the immortal and a child, riding on the back of a pink, green and red qilin (麒麟; a legendary and mythological creature). Zhang Xian has a bow and arrow, pointed up and behind, towards a small black and white heavenly dog (tiangou; 天狗) holding a red ball in front of a white black and blue cloud. With thin wooden bars at top and bottom, the side edges of the paper painted blue. A piece of red twine is attached at the top for hanging.

Rolled painting, that was also partly printed, on paper. The image depicts a scene with ten figures. There is a figure with a black stick in one hand, who is looking up at a male figure in the sky surrounded by a white and orange-pink cloud; a figure carrying two bundles hung from a stick; a human-like figure with a grey animal head; a figure with a black, yellow and red headdress, who is greeting four bald figures with their hands raised; and a bearded figure standing at the entrance of a temple. Wooden scroll bars at ends.

Rolled painting, and print, depicting a fight scene with three men on horses, two men running with them on foot, and an archer ready to shoot on top of a hill. The image of a dog chasing a dragon is floating between the two groups of warriors and is joined to two of the warriors' heads with winding tendrils. On paper, with wooden scroll bars at sides.

Carving946/32 a-b

Miniature wooden carving of a seesaw-like object with one side shorter than the other. A man holding a long, straight stick stands on the fulcrum facing the short end. Mounted to the underside of the short end is a pestle-like projection that hovers above a large, open mortar-like object on the ground below it. The seesaw-like object can teeter back and forth, and is mounted on a long, flat, rectangular piece of wood--inscription on the bottom of the mount reads: "Husking [?] grain."
