Loom3263/81 a-b

Loom. Consists of a partially completed miniature loincloth tied to two bars (part a) and a removable sword (part b). Sword intertwined in centre of weaving. Sword and bars are made of dark brown-grey wood. Loincloth has rows of design across entire surface. Row designs, from top to bottom, are: plain, three rows of vertical diamonds, line through centre with alternating blocks of colour, "X" design across length, checkerboard pattern, "X" design across length, plain, checkerboard pattern, plain, horizontal diamonds, and checkerboard pattern. Designs done in golden brown, dark brown, red, brown-black and white. Rest of weaving is incomplete and golden brown in colour. Thin metal ring on right side of weaving, on the top bar.

Fragment: Quipu3263/85 a-c

Quipu, or string abacus (incomplete). Three cords, the smallest of them split in three. The largest cord (part a) is white and made of two twisted strands of cotton fibre. Left end splits into two smaller branches. Second largest cord (part b) is brown-grey, made of two twisted strands of cotton fibre and has a series of five knots in its centre. Knots are closely spaced. Right end splits into two smaller branches. The smallest cord is dark brown and split into three pieces (part c). All parts are made of two twisted strands of cotton fibre. Right end tied off. Left end pieces are a series of three knots. Knots are closely spaced.

Fragment: Cloth3263/17

Fragment of a woman's head cloth(?). Rectangular in shape and coloured dark brown. Vertical columns of resist-dyed circles across surface. Mainly done in white, towards left side, and yellow-brown towards centre. Columns of circles begin to curve, towards the right side, halfway across fragment. Textile stitched to cream coloured fabric, secured to off-white matboard.

Fragment of a woman's head cloth panel. Cloth is coloured cream and rectangular in shape. Alternating vertical bands of dense gauze and plain weave. Right edge has a thick border. Fragment is stitched to grey coloured fabric, secured to off-white matboard.

Fragment: Textile3263/92

Panel fragment from a mantle or shirt. Rectangular shaped with vertical zigzag pattern across surface. Zigzags alternate between brown-white and brown-red. All brown-white zigzags have brown-red interior borders. Small bird figures, done in brown-red, inside all brown-white lines. Patterns of feline figures and larger bird figures, done in brown-white, alternate between all brown-red lines. Diamond-like shapes throughout patterns in the brown-red zigzags. Motifs identical on back of textile, colours are inverse.

Fragment of a cloth. Rectangular in shape and coloured light golden brown. Design of two rows of brocaded feline figures, two vertical lines between each feline, across entire surface. Felines in top row face the right side of the fragment, felines in bottom row face the left side. Dark golden brown band along the bottom edge of the cloth, with two black lines through it. Textile stitched to grey coloured fabric, secured to off-white matboard.

Fragment of a strap or belt. Rectangular in shape and coloured light brown. Repeating pattern of yellow rectangles and red squares across entire surface. Two red bird-like figures facing one another inside each rectangle. One yellow bird-like figure inside each square, facing towards the left side of the fragment.

Fragment: Cloth3263/47

Fragment of a coarse cloth. Irregularly shaped with rectangular main body and fraying triangles extending from the left and right sides. Main body rectangle coloured white, trimmed in brown, with interior designs of stepped pyramids, zigzags and diamonds. Patterns done in light and dark brown. Frayed attachments on the left and right sides of the rectangle are patterned with alternating white and brown yarns, creating a small checkered design.

Fragment: Case3263/15

Opened out fragment of a tubular case. Golden brown textile worked over thin brown-black reeds. Four rows of designs across entire surface. Done in red, black, white, olive green and dark grey. First row has three small step designs with bordered squares inside them. Second row has a bird-like creature and other zoomorphic figures. Third and fourth rows have snake-like figures. Textile stitched to cream coloured fabric, secured to off-white matboard.

Fragment: Sling3263/67

Fragment of a sling. Consists of part of the cradle and part of the left handle. Portion of cradle is light brown and has a two-toed zoomorphic figure, outlined in dark brown with a light red interior. Tapering section, where cradle meets handle, has vertical stripes and a repeating triangle pattern. Stripes and pattern done in light brown, dark brown and light red. Handle splits in two where it meets the cradle before converging again and becoming a thick rectangle. Rectangle and split strands covered in concentric diamond pattern. Done in red, light brown and dark brown.
