BowA1141

A slightly curved bow, which, in cross-section, has a flat surface on one side while the other side is convex. Narrow at the tip and slightly narrower at the handgrip. Has a design consisting of an alternating pattern of green bands and red evergreen-tree/hour-glass-like shapes. Pair of notches on either end to hold bowstring.

A brown root decorated with a carved crude face carved on the underside of the unpainted middle of the naturally twisted root, and painted black, red, green, and white along both ends with a snake-like head at one end. The root twists into a three-dimensional L-shape.

Chilkat RobeA17007

Chilkat style robe with woven designs and long fringe. The design is a three panel distributive. In the centre are two ancestor faces surrounded by a diving whale(?) motif. The side panels have ancestors faces in profile and a raven motif. The design is yellow, blue and black on natural ground. The two bottom corners have two rectangles with zigzags in black and yellow, associated with the identity of the weaver. There is long twisted fringe, on three sides, of mixed wool and cedar bark. On the top edge are two red flannel tabs with buttons and buttonholes for securing the robe around the neck.

Imbricated geometric pattern of four large squares in black cherry bark, grass and red cherry bark, horizontally connected by double black lines. Stem has smaller squares in dark and red cherry bark on top row and partial squares in dark cherry bark, grass and red cherry bark on bottom row.

Basket with wrapped twined work (with direction of weave reversing with each row). Base is plaited with double strands and has four corners that extend up to rounded edges that flare outwards slightly towards the rim. The rim is overcast, and the two handles each consist of two twisted strands of cedar bark.
