Axe HandleA2.635 b

Axe handle that is round with a slight flare at the butt end. The other end is split into two for about 26.5 cm where axe head would be hafted. The axe head is separate from the handle.

Several longitudinal cracks both ends. Small holes in the surface. Cedar bark stitching at both ends. Chisel marks, longitudinal cracks and black patch-like accretions on the plank's underside.

A long rectangular cedar plank with faded black and red Northwest Coast designs imprinted in the surface of the wood. Designs are more visible near the top of the plank. Bottom edge is jagged and top edge is cut at an angle. there are two horizontal cuts at the top and side of the plank. Back has a rectangular indentation near the top and bottom. Medium sized hole near the top of the plank.

Mask with protruding cylindrical eyes that are moveable. The mask is painted with heavy black eyebrows, red nostrils and lips, a black moustache, and the cheeks are emphasized with red painted designs. The remainder of the face is painted white. Cedar bark fringe extends down back past the bottom of the mask.

A long rectangular cedar plank with faded Northwest Coast designs imprinted in the surface of the wood; black and red formlines, ovoids, u forms and split u forms visibly cover the entire surface. Two large longitudinal cracks run from the ends towards the centre. A bright pink v-like letter in a circle is inscribed on the plank's underside near the bottom (?). Underside is covered in uniform chisel marks.
