Indonesian slit gong or Kentongan drum made from carved wood in a cylindrical shape with a flat bottom. The top has a semi-circular ridge with a hole drilled through for hanging. Through the middle is a large slit opening that leads to a hollow interior.
Long, carved wooden gong, cylindrical with a slight bulbous shape. The top is flat with a small rectangular handle; bottom is rounded. The sides are carved in relief with a stylized geometric coil design with a band of diamonds running down the back and triangular detailing at the top. Drum is slit at top from one end to the other; covered with a thin layer of stain.
Large, long, carved wooden gong, cylindrical in shape with a rectangular protruding handle on the top end; bottom is rounded. The sides are carved in relief with a stylized geometric coil design with a band of diamonds running down the back and triangular detailing at the top. The top front of the handle has a carved face with narrow eyes, a long flat nose and a slightly protruding tongue; back end has triangular design. Drum is slit at top from one end to the other; covered with a thin layer of stain.
Square-sided light brown basket (part a) woven from thin strips of bamboo. Basket is banded around the bottom and at the top to form a ridge for the lid (part b)--lid is also banded around the top and bottom. Three supporting vertical wood bands at centre of each side (one missing). Entire basket is nailed to a square wooden base-- base and all bands are painted red. Part c is a snug-fitting bamboo basket liner of a looser weave than the basket and lid-- rises 5.6 cm above the rim of the basket.
Pair of white gloves with black patches of animal skin with long fur sewn onto the fingertips and the back of the hand (missing on part b). Long, clear plastic claws are also sewn onto the fingertips.
