The male figure at the left is facing forward with his head turned toward the women behind the screen. He is sitting cross-legged and is wearing a robe with a beige and dark brown floral pattern on a brown background. The eight female figures are in various positions, wearing clothing that is red, blue, brown, and grey. The floor is blue-green; the background is off-white. In the upper left side (on part a), is the title: 獨息子に娵八人 (Hitori musuko ni yome hachinin), which appears in black on red, in a vertical rectangle. Next to the title is a poem by Umeya.
