The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Fish bones from this bag were loaned to Robert Kopperl from 5/16/2006 until 12/21/2006 for faunal analysis. The bones were identified to taxon and element, and any evidence of bruning was noted. Kopperl's full analysis sheets are attached to this record. NAB, 8/19/2009 Non-fish vertebrates from this bag were analyzed on site by Kris Bovy from January to February, 2006. The bones were analyzed in terms of taxonomic affiliation, abundance, and modification. They were sorted into five main categories: bird, mammal, reptile, amphibian, and unidentified. Bovy's full analysis sheets are attached to this record. NAB, 8/19/2009 13 pieces from this object id were identified as shell during Bovy's analysis and were integrated into object id EXU12P0081800. This shell was loaned to Phoebe Anderson from 12/8/2005 until 8/11/2009 for faunal analysis. Samples were taken from the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 12th buckets to perform taxonomic and size analyses. Additionally, five shells per level, preferably Protothaca staminea (common littleneck clam), underwent destructive sampling in order to analyze seasonality of occupation and to reconstruct the past environment of the Pacific Northwest. Anderson's analysis is described fully in her dissertation, A Gendered Model of Prehistoric Resource Depression: A Case Study on the Northwest Coast (2009), and full analysis sheets are attached to this record . Paired charcoal/shell, sample #21, 2 vials, analyzed by S.Johannessen 1/31/05(see below). Charcoal from this bag was loaned to Sissel Johannessen (Demeter Research, Vashon, WA) from 1/17/2005 to 2/25/2005 to assess for possible radiocarbon dating. She identified selected wood to species, growth, and from which part of the tree it came. Johanessen then suggested which samples would be best to date based on the following criteria when possible: young wood, short-lived species, free of other materials (soil or rootlets), and sufficient size. Charcoal from this bag was selected for dating, and sent to Beta Analytic in April 2005 (Beta # 203756, Sample 280EXU12R). Dates were returned as: 2540+/-40BP Conventional Radiocarbon Age; 2690BP - 2750BP and 2480BP to 2660BP 2-sigma Calibration. NAB, 8/12/2009
