The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

A large cortex spall tool with secondary flaking along the edge. The dorsal surface is covered with a smooth light grey cortex, with a single impact site and flake removal scar sporting some compression ripples. The ventral surface is a dark grey with a fine grain. The ventral face has many impact sites, a few bulbs of percussion, and many flake arrises located near the mesial portions. Some compression rings and compression ripples can be seen.
A medium sized rhyolite fragment. The dorsal face is covered entirely by a smooth yet porous reddish-beige cortex. The dorsal face has some brown staining on the cortex. The ventral face has minimal worked features; two impact sites on opposite ends, a few flake ridges, and a flake scar.
A medium sized Uniface fragment. The dorsal face is covered entirely by a smooth light grey cortex with some off--white, black and dark grey speckles. The ventral face has a coarse grain, and is a medium grey with some quartz mineral deposits, and dark grey speckling. There's an impact site most visible from the ventral surface, with a negative bulb, and some negative scarring right beside the site. A large compression ring can be seen near the proximal end.
A medium sized unifacial cortex scraper; the cortex is a smooth dark grey with some off-white negative scarring and lines of mineral deposits, and a light grey discoloured patch in the centre. The dorsal face has a small ovular patch with semi-circular cracks. The ventral face is medium grey with the same mineral deposit lines. The ventral face shows compression ripples going length-wise, and a negative bulb of percussion where the impact site once was.
A medium sized cortex spall tool, with some cortex present; the cortex is a smooth medium grey with some light discolouration and some use-wear present along the thinner edges. The ventral face is medium-dark grey with a coarse grain, and some discolouration around the edges. The ventral face has an impact site, a negative bulb of percussion and some wide compression rings. The dorsal face has some off-white negative scarring on the cortex, and and a slight harrisline fracture to the left of the impact site.
A large uniface end scraper with some cortex; The cortex is a smooth light grey with off-white circular inclusions. The exposed surface is a medium grey with white inclusions and a fine grain. The proximal end sports a flat edge, and the distal end sports a rounded thin, fine edge with some potential use-wear. The distal end also has an impact site and compression ring, with some flat straight flake ridges. The flat end of the proximal portion also exhibits some potential use-wear, and a compression ring around the flattened bottom.
A medium sized adze, with some cortex present; The cortex is a smooth brown with light and dark sedimentary layers. The ventral face is a shade darker with the same layers and a fine grain. The dorsal surface has a convexed body, with a semi-thin jagged edge, and a thicker hilt. A point of impact, a bulb of percussion, and a compression ring can be seen near the hilt. On the ventral face, a flake removal site can be seen, as well as a bulb of percussion.
A large side-struck cortex spall tool. The dorsal surface contains some cortex near the proximal end; The cortex is a smooth matte light grey with some off-white negative scarring. Some use-wear along the curved portion of the point. Some flake scarring ridges near the flat distal end, and a point of impact site. To the left of the dorsal surface, just below the distal end, there's a compression ring. On the oppsite side on the ventral surace there's another point of impact site with some compression ripples going width-wise. Some negative scarring.
A large cortex spall tool. The dorsal surface is covered entirely by a smooth, desaturated tan with a reddish tinge, and some darker speckling. The ventral surface has a tan to beige with a pink hue gradient, it has some reflective shiny particles giving it a shiny finish with a light coarse grain. There's a compression ring on the distal end, opposite side and end of the catalogue label, and two tiny flake scars.
A large primary flake. The dorsal surface is made up of a smooth yet porous Cortex, it's matte light tan with white speckles. The ventral surface is a gradient of deep desaturated brown to a saturated brown, with medium white mineral fragments and a coarse grain. There's a point of impact site near the distal end, with an indented flake ridge just below. The rest of the ventral surface remains unworked further than the inital removal.
