An oval wood container (part b) with its ends stitched together by bark(?). There are two pegs at the sides which help to hold the lid (part a) in place. The object is painted with a yellow, gree, and black spiral design.

Box1130/2

Wooden box with a hinged lid, a handle at the top centre of the lid, and a keyhole at the front centre. The box has been painted red with black bands across the top of the lid, at the corners of the base, and along the bottom edge. These black bands have white edges, and have been decorated with yellow wavy lines. An abstract design has been painted in black, white and yellow with two scrolls either side of the keyhole, and two above. A design of two flowers has been painted in yellow, white and blue on either side of the lock on the front face, and there is painted black lettering superimposed over the design and over painted white lettering across the front. Two black, painted monograms on back.

Needle Case1130/7 a-d

Small, rectangular needle case of black velvet, bound with red and dark red textile; embroidered with flower and vine motifs. Divided inside into five compartments, containing cylindrical plastic sleeves for holding needles. Lined with printed cotton; interlined with animal skin. Top flap covers needle sleeves; fastened with a loop and small shell button.

Printing Tool1130/4

Tool with a cylindrical wooden handle that has slightly rounded ends. Long metal staff protrudes from handle and at its end is a rectangular metal stamp with three characters in reverse. The first character has a staff with a central half circle that protrudes to the left; the second character is an X and the third is an S.

Key1130/3

Brass key with long, cylindrical shank and single rectangular bit. Bow is an overall diamond shape with scalloping around the edges and an incised line that mirrors the edge; another incised band is around the key's shoulder. A hole is at the top of the bow and the incised decoration goes around bottom of hole at this point rather than the edge; a large steel key ring goes through the hole.
