Characters are written above, below and beside the figures. Paper is mounted on a hanging scroll attached to a red wooden baton; a fibre cord ties it shut.

Pink robe with blue embroidery. The robe has slender sleeves, side slits and a side opening with metal snap closures. The border around the neck, cuffs, sides and bottom hem has longevity characters and ju-i scrolls in dark blue. The collar and cuffs are finished with a blue band. The inside lining is white cotton.

Black robe with slender sleeves, hoof cuffs, front and back slits and side opening with brass buttons. Dragon, bat, cloud, fish, wave and mountain motifs and longevity symbols on the front and back, in gold, pink, yellow, green, blue and purple on a black ground. Collar, sleeve and border bands have peony motifs in yellow, blue, green, purple and pink on a black ground. The inside lining is yellow linen.

White jacket with short standing collar, side slits and centre opening with frog closures. On the front are bird, peony and prunus motifs in blue, turquoise and silver on a white ground. On the sleeves are chrysanthemum, butterfly and prunus motifs. On the back are bird, fu dog, peony and prunus motifs. There is gold braid around the edges. There are green glass eyes, tin reflectors and white fur on the front and back. The inside lining is natural-coloured linen.

Purple jacket with appliqué circles on the centre front and back. The jacket has a rounded neck, wide sleeves and a centre opening with brass frog closures. There are slits in the sides and back. The circles have four toed dragon motifs in silver, pink and purple on a turquoise ground. There are mirrors, tin reflectors, green glass eyes and white fur within the circles. There is black and gold trim around the edges of the sleeves and bottom hem. The inside lining is yellow linen.

Yellow jacket (part a) with embroidery, slender cuffed sleeves and side opening with frog closures and metal snap fasteners. The collar, side opening, sleeves and hem have a green lotus motif and black meander border. The collar is stiffened with paper and finished with a green ribbon. The inside lining is ecru cotton.

Light green damask robe with wide sleeves, side slits and side opening with brass frog closures. The damask is woven containing a floral and diamond motif. The short standing collar has gold braid around the edges. The side opening border has embroidered peony, coin and endless knot motifs on a blue ground, edged with gold braid and pink floral trim. The inside lining is natural-coloured linen.
