No decoration, plain, dark brown wood mask with strong features representing the antelope. Has a large forehead incised with a horizontal bordered band of zig zags. At the front of the forehead, there are two long horns and at the back of the sides of the head, there are two long ears. Has horizontal, rectangular cut out eyes, a thin, deep nose, and an open mouth at the bottom. String is attached at either sides of the back.

Multicoloured damask skirt with pleats. Across the top is a wide cotton waistband with two loops. The various damask panels are woven with Buddhist and Taoist symbols good fortune. The borders around the edges and skirt panels are striped in blue, purple, green, gold and black. On the rectangular front panel are pheasant and floral motifs in gold, blue, green, white, brown and black on a cream ground. The inside is lined with blue silk.

Two bowls (parts a and b) and two smaller lacquer dishes (parts c and d), each red inside and black on the outside. Each piece is one size smaller than the largest bowl to fit inside each other. Parts a and b each have a label on the underside of the base that say Made in Japan.

Hand modelled, beige clay pot with a lid. Pot (part a) has three textured patterns all around the bowl and the neck with the upper sides which consist of three panels of fifteen to seventeen horizontal bands that have incised vertical lines within ending in ten to eleven knobs at either end. In between these panels, there is an upward facing bird. The lid (part b) has a modelled human head with large ears and upright hair or a crested helmet on top.

Red clay vessel (part a) with a lid (part b). Pot has two textured panels around the upper sides which consist of thirteen horizontal bands that have incised vertical lines within ending in six knobs at either end. In between these panels, at either side, there is an upward facing lizard in relief. The lid has a chameleon that has incised horizontal lines across its body and impressed dashes along its legs.

From the rim, on one side of the bowl (part a), there is a triple incised downward pointing triangle. From the rim, on one side of the lid (part b), there are three upward pointing triangles.

Woman's mantle. Embroidered yellow cape with centre opening, side slits and fringe. The overall motif is various sizes of bouquets in maroon and green on a yellow ground. Around the neck is a band with a diamond motif in maroon, red and green. Edging the centre opening and the hem is a three-prong motif in maroon and green. Two tapered sleeve-like pieces of fabric extend down the back from the shoulders and are joined by a rectangular piece. Black fringes hang from the ends of these and the rectangle. Hanging from the bottom hem is an alternating black and maroon fringe. The inside lining is maroon silk.

Cantonese Opera ArmourN1.683 a

Black armour robe with slender sleeves, epaulets and a side opening with brass frog fasteners. Below the waist, the armour divides into one front panel and three back panels. On the front are fu dog, butterfly, cash, sun and prunus motifs in silver, green, pink, red, purple and orange on a black ground. The collar band has butterfly motifs in silver, pink, yellow, green and white. The sleeves have butterfly, peony, prunus, and swastika motifs in silver, pink, white, blue, purple and green. On the back are bat, fish, endless knot, peony, prunus and chrysanthemum motifs in silver, pink, purple, green, blue and orange on a black ground. On each of the large back panels there are five tassels in yellow, green, orange, light and dark pink. On the front are three large tassels in orange, yellow and pink. There are green glass eyes, tin reflectors, white fur and hexagonal mirrors on the front and back. The inside lining is white cotton.

Velvet covers with metal applique and fringe (part a-b). The cover has a velvet centre panel and surrounding border. The panel is maroon with a green centre and corners. Both the oval-shaped centre and corners have scalloped edges. The border is multicoloured with red, green, blue and purple sections; the majority of sections being red and green. Metal decorations are sewn over the surface of the panel and border. The decorations include birds, crabs, dragons, butterflies, peonies, chrysanthemums and narcissus as well as gold thread and sequins. Along all four sides is a metal chain-link fringe, in the shape of flowers and leaves. Part (a) and (b) are the same.
