A small carving of a bird with its elongated neck curved so that its beak touches the middle of its back. The eyes, and the beak are accentuated carved to accentuate these features. The back has grooved lines indicating feathers and is also carved with a diamond-shaped pattern on the upper part of its back. The horizontally flat upward angled tail has three grooved lines on top and one grooved line on each side. Carved standing on a circular pedestal with an incised triangular pattern all around the sides. Incised line patterns.

The dark green wings are decorated with a red starburst shape surrounded by smaller dark blue dots, outlined in red, with a white diagonal off centre, and a red wing tip. Long wood piece with parallel sides and both ends tapered to a point. There are six pairs of circular pots in the middle, totalling twelve, with a triangular dish at each tapered end. There are two rectangular legs, one at each end, and both of which are carved with a closed wall at the end and opening up toward the middle with three pairs of columns where there is a cylindrical leg in the middle which flares downward. The columns are carved with various geometric designs. The cylindrical leg tapers upward into a smaller square hole at the centre top of the wood piece which is surrounded by a carved grooved diamond shape around which the top has a design of many longitudinal grooved lines. Stained black.

Miniature RackN2.902 a-b

Miniature clothing rack (part b) and shelf cabinet (zushidana; 厨子棚) (part a). Gold circular designs on dark brown wood; brass-bound edges decorate both pieces. The shelving cabinet has three levels below the table top: an open shelf, above middle and lower levels that both have open and closed door sections, on opposite sides. The doors on the middle level have a human figure decoration on the inside. Doors on the lower level have an animal decoration on the inside. The sides have circular cut-outs. The clothing rack (part b) has three horizontal bars, one at the top, which extends past the side bars; one in the middle, and the lower piece which is part of the base that has curved feet at each end.
