Print of Goyu Station (#35). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: " Goya The beautiful women who appeared in the famous paintings of Arduous and Tamari were Japanese types. Here, Hiroshima draws another and common type of Japanese beauty. The signs in the inn to the right carry the names of an engraver and a printer." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

Green five piece hoop belt (part b-f). The rectangular pieces are curved and fit together. Part (b) has no tabs. Part (c) has one leather tab folded back under the belt loop and one wooden tab. Part (d) has two leather tabs folded back. Part (e) has no tabs. Part (f) has one leather tab folded back and one wooden tab. The fabric is fixed over a wooden centre. The front has embroidered Immortal symbols and floral motifs in orange, pink and purple on a turquoise ground. The back lining is royal blue cotton.

Multicoloured cotton skirt with an open back and a tie closure at the waistband. Skirt is made from two identical panels, overlapping at centre front, attached to a wide, unbleached cotton waistband; panels are made from strips of blue, white, green, purple, red, and yellow fabric, separated by gold metallic braid-like ribbon.

This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy," from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: " NISSAKA 'Sayo-no Nakayama Yonaki-ishi" (a stone which cries at night at Nakayama) is the basis for a strange but popular legend, which was the common subject of traveller's talk.'" There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

The pine covered projecting point is "Miho-no-Matsubara" (the pinery of Miho) where according to legend an angel danced before a fisherman in order to retireve [sic] her stolen celestial raiment. Nowadays this spot is well-known as a tea exporting port." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.
