Mat Needle2922/12

Long, slightly bowed, wooden mat needle. Needle is somewhat flat on its outer side, rounded on the inner side. Has one pointed end; the other is squared off and has an eye hole close to the end.

Gloves2922/11 a-b

Pair of beaded hide gloves, or gauntlets, with a fringe at the cuffs. The beaded pattern on each cuff has pink, light-pink, and red flowers with green leaves. On the top portion of each palm are three lines of beads of interchanging colours with orange. Each glove is marked D.N.S. in marker on the underside of the cuff and has a plastic tag adhered to the inside that reads “Stanley.” Both gloves are lined with a floral cotton fabric.

Speaker's Staff2922/1

Painted and deeply carved wooden talking stick, or speaker's staff, depicting figures (from bottom to top): Dzunuk’wa, male, otter, male wearing headdress with abalone shell, a whale, and either an eagle or thunderbird at the very top. At the base of the talking stick a metal rod protrudes from the wood.

A chain necklace with a copper pendant in a shape of an arrow point and four faceted blue glass trade beads. The beads hang two on either side of the pendant.
