Basket1140/2 a-b

A small light yellow-brown slightly flared upward cylindrical basket (part a) with a lid (part b). There are three sets of equally spaced blue-black parallelograms around the side, and three horizontal rows of brown, orange, and brown around the bottom of the basket (part a). The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) is flat and has a blue-black sunburst-like centre at the top outlined with a blue-black circle line with an alternating blue-black, and light yellow-brown circular row of parallelograms. Three horizontal rows of brown, orange, and brown go around the side of the lid (part b).

A small light yellow-brown slightly flared cylindrical basket (part a) with a lid (part b). The basket (part a) has horizontal rows of blue, pink, purple, yellow, blue, and green around the bottom. There are two blue and purple whales and one bird, and a red-orange, green, and purple canoe with people inside on the side of the basket (part a). The side of the basket tapers into an upright rim. The lid (part b) is slightly rounded and has a green circle at the top centre with a purple, blue, pink, red-orange, yellow, and green row around the middle. Three horizontal rows of purple, red-orange, and purple go around the side of the lid (part b).

Silkscreen print. A red, baby blue, and black seawolf design. The main head is in profile facing to its left with a circular part behind, and above along with a fin-like shaped part below, and at the back. The figure's upper right limb has the shape of an enclosed three digit paw. The body is curving inward. Pencil inscription along the bottom edge; 69/75. The print is on vertically rectangular, yellow-white paper. (Hinged to larger matboard.)

Print of seven human figures riding in a black canoe on an upwards angle towards one corner of the print. There are seven red paddles on the side of the canoe. Canoe overlaps with an arched rainbow in the corner. A thick blue wavy horizontal line depicting water is below the canoe. Below the image, a handwritten inscription reads: "Ahousaht Memorial A/P x/x Opetchesaaht Tribe by Hupquatchew." Below inscription is a symbol.

Tlingit Young WolfNb11.337

Small wolf mask with a long rounded snout pointed upwards. The lips and nose are painted red while the rest of the face and throat is green. The oval black eyes are painted in a natural coloured relief. A black band curves around framing the face. The ears are red and oval. Above the black band there is a natural coloured rim and a circlet of painted black and red oblong shapes. On the reverse ‘Tlingit Young Wolf' and ' J. David 80’ are printed.

Raven Travelling with SculpinNb22.80

Symmetrical design is predominantly black with red detail. All images are contained in a basically rounded rectangle. There is a head at the top centre protruding from the bottom, a horizontally elongated frontal face with a protruding tongue and a salmon-trout head eye motif, and a small frontal face with three split u's above up to the ovoid with a nearly solid inner ovoid. Frontal face at the top has a series of six split u's along the top of the head with a triangle shape below the chin. Two profile faces are on either side with a red curled s-shape above the teeth row and having the tail come to a point and the forelimb go to the centre. Pencil inscription across the bottom reads '207/225 Raven travelling with Sculpin Dempsey Bob '79'. There are three embossed marks along the bottom edge, from the right: 'The Gallery Collection', a circle with a vertical line, and a discontinuous horizontal line. The print is on a vertically rectangular, near white paper piece with a deckle edge top and bottom.

Head has an ovoid pupil in extended pointed eyelid lines; short open beak with red split u next to eye area; back part of lower mandible rests on body ovoid, which has an interior line with two equidistant pointed extensions; at side on right bent leg with claw encompassing partial human face; wing at side on left has interior ovoid and u forms; leg partially obscured by wing; two tail feathers with interior u forms. Pencil inscription below wing reads '151/156' and below claw reads 'N. Tait Sept. 77.' Decal edge at side on right. The print is on vertically rectangular, beige paper.

Raven has a profile head facing to the right side and a frontal body with the wings and the feet extended to the sides. Head has a large ear that has a rectangular top and an upside down red split u at the base. Black circle in circle eye is outlined by a tapering oval surrounded by an ovoid that is thick at the top and joins the lip band at the base. Open beak has a red u form design joining the to lip band. Thin pointed red tongue has two equidistant downward pointing extensions. Body has a sideways double u form at thee neck. Circular body contains a profile bird. Below this, there is an ovoid with three downward pointing feathers for the tail. U-shaped legs have claw feet. Abstract design in the ovoid at the top of the two-feathered wings that have red u forms and a black split u. Beneath claw on the right side, there is printed the artist's signature. Pemcil inscription across the bottom reads '"RAVEN" PJanze 124/200 July 76'. On the back, in the upper corner on the left side, a pencil inscription reads '20.00'. The print is on a horizontally rectangular, brown paper piece.

Kwakwaka'wakw style silkscreen print of a bentwood box design. Square black frontal eagle with red as secondary colour; u shaped ears have interior u forms; 2 ovoids between eyes; frontal eagle face each pupil has 3 circles, one on each cheek and one for point of beak, pointed eyelid lines; red designs on cheeks; elliptical nose has circle at centre and broad nostrils to either side; upper lip band is joined to jaw; inverted animalistic head below jaw has long ears with ovoid and u forms.Tail at base between claws is composed of u forms. An inscription below the image from side on the left reads: "Lawrence Rosso Eagle Box design 69/225."

Black raven with red claws and tongue in profile and facing to the right side. Wings extended downwards. Wing on the left side is partially hidden by the body. Repeating motif of an ovoid with downward pointing eyelid lines and a circular pupil, are on the beak and at the top of the wings. Red claws. Pencil inscription along the bottom edge reads '34/120 raven beau dick '77'. The print is on a vertically rectangular, mint wintergreen paper piece.
