Waist Cloth2787/2

Men's waist cloth in hand spun, orange, yellow, cream and brown natural dyed cotton. Two warp faced panels, stitched together with red thread in a vertical seam, have a warp ikat pattern and stripes with hook and key geometric patterns in the warp. The fringe at both ends is two-ply ends, with alternating loose warps.

Table Mat2787/34

Square cloth of natural linen hand loomed on a multi-harness loom. The woven patterns of the three light biege shades of linen fibres include a central ground of diamond motifs framed by a thick band of herringbone. A thin line of red stretches across all four sides, near the edges. Two tags with red stitched names are sewn into a back corner; VAN HOOGSTRATEN is machine stitched, MEES is handstitched.

Paisley wool shawl. Square of dark brown wool has a thick border of printed paisley motifs in gold, red, and blue. Two paisley tear-drop motifs are placed at opposing corners. The ends are left loose and fringed. Three small rectangles of black silk are hand stitched onto one edge of undersurface, at sides and centre.

Ceremonial Cloth2787/27

Turquoise silk cloth with an overlaid purple centre panel and a looping gold filament border stitched on around the edge. The top surface of the runner-like cloth is covered with a decorative hand embroidery of mixed gold and copper filaments attached in a couching-technique known as stumping, with the resultant cross hatching of the ivory coloured thread covering the under surface. Cloth has long twined strands that hang out beneath metal fringe at both ends.

Court cloth, decorated using batik and tritik stitch resist or "kain kembangan" techniques. An outer brown, black and cream patterned batiked border includes a four petalled flower on each of the four corners.Tiny pulled-stitch bundles and an oblong of repeated white leaf motifs (the result of unstitched tritik bundles) decorate the central burgundy-red panel which is framed with a thin border of white tritik (also known as terikit).
