Standing wood figure (ibeji) on flat round platform. Tapered oval head with flat chin, carved hair, and smooth rounded features, with carved lines on each cheek. Ears and buttocks are pointed. Phallus protrudes from the waist. Rounded stomach with carved triangle decorations. Arms are connected to the body forming an oval. Decorated with beaded red and white belt and beaded brown necklace.

Headrest3055/1

Carved wooden headrest. Rectangular base with hollows on side and back. Back hollow is framed by a carved line. Two figures joined in a curved line form the top. Facial features are faintly carved on side and deep on the other. Both have large foreheads. Each figure is holding a board connected to the base and carved with swirling lines. A dome with curls on each side rests in the middle of the two figures. A ridged curved board spans the top of the headrest. Inscription on base in white paint.

Puppet3105/2

String puppet (marioneta) representing the character Venus. Puppet wears a very long dark pink skirt, and a short dark pink top with plastic round nipples attached to the outside. Her hair is also pink; clear plastic points project from the back of her head. Her midriff is exposed, showing very pale 'skin', like her face. Her lips are painted dark red. Her eyes appear to be glass balls. Her hands are carved of wood. Artist's inscription at base of body.

Puppet3105/1

String puppet (marioneta) of the character Jupiter. Puppet wears a long off-white cotton robe with gold coloured grasses hanging around the outside and a gold coloured crown made of individual curved strips of metal with dark blue stone pieces attached to each. There is a painted paper collar that wraps around his neck and down the front; the arms are similarly constructed; the hands are carved of wood.

Fishermen's Trap3101/1

Brown ink print on thick, cream coloured paper. The image shows a large canoe at top, four figures seated inside and rowing with long paddles through large waves with rounded tops. Below, under the surface of the water, is a stylized triangular net containing several fish (bonito tuna) of various sizes, all decorated with linear designs. The boat, fish and net are surrounded by palm leaves to edges of the image, representing the technique used in traditional Solomon Islands fisheries of herding a school of fish toward a net using the leaves. Serigraph 2/30.

Table runner, woven from cotton. Primarily orange, with long black fringe on the short ends. Patterning runs the length of the piece at centre, and consists of lines of repeating symmetrical and geometric designs in three shades of pink.

Woman's Sarong3057/1

Cotton sarong, tubular in construction with long ends sewn together. Garment is made of four pieces of fabric sewn together: a thin strip of unnbleached cotton is at one end, followed by a red stripe, then a wide centre panel of thin green and black stripes, and a strip of yellow embroidery covered by geomentirc designs in black, with green, pink and white embellishments. Small white and black motifs lead from the yellow area onto a red stripe which ends the piece.

Be a Good Girl3087/1

Woodblock print in black and gold, from edition of 4. The image shows figures/scenes in black on a gold ground. A central, vertical figure stands wrapped in a blanket, wearing a feather headdress. Above fly eagles and ravens. Below is a buffalo skull and a banner saying “pray/ work”. Along both sides girls and young women are shown in different scenes cooking, ironing, sewing and praying on their knees.
