War Shield2703/1

Large carved and painted wood shield. The teardrop shape narrows with a circular shape at that end. Front decoration includes a white background, six orange curl designs joined by vertical bars with circle and semi-circle cutouts, orange horned motifs, an orange and white chain link at the edge of the shield, dark brown relief borders, and a carved zigzag aacross the narrowing. The back is unpainted and a curved handle with rectangular hole protrudes from the centre.

Cristo Com a Cruz as Costas2708/6

Wooden figure carved and painted in a depiction of Jesus Christ carrying a large brown cross on his right shoulder. He has black hair and beard; red lips and nails; large circular eyes. Around his head is a brown band, possibly a crown of thorns with areas of red below it. He wears brown pants with a dark red long sleeved shirt with gold striped detailing. The figure stands barefooted on a green circular base with white writing.

Wood citak shield, oval-like shaped with a slight taper at both ends but one has a straight edge while the other is pointed. Detailed with a bilaterally symmetrical stylized design carved in relief. The recesses of the curved geometric design are painted orange and white with a black outline. The pointed top is white with an orange trapezoid on either side. The side edges and bottom are painted black. The back has a carved out handle; piece of brown synthetic twine attached.

Wooden coastal shield, rectangular in shape with rounded corners and a slight taper at the bottom. Detailed with a bilaterally symmetrical stylized design carved in relief. The recesses of the geometric design is painted orange and outlined in black all on a white ground framed in black. White stripe on top and bottom. Small carved head sits on the top middle edge. Two sets of four bundles of sennit attached along the side edges, one is missing. The back has black painted, triangular design on either side of a carved out handle; piece of twisted fibre twine attached.

Ndop textile made of two panels sewn together. Complex design in off-white on indigo ground includes segmented circles, interlocking swastika-like shapes, connected triangles, dots and a band of propeller shapes at each fringed end. Interspersed throughout are grass stitches.

Helmet Mask2709/2

Round, carved wooden helmet mask. The top has a large centre roll, with small rolls on each side. The lower front has a triangular shaped face, with white half circles for eyes and a thin protruding nose. Around the neck area is a ring of blue pigment, flanked by rings of white pigment. The bottom rim has a ring of holes.

The lower front has a triangular shaped face, with white slit openings for the eyes and a thin protruding nose. Around the neck area is a ring of blue pigment, flanked by rings of white pigment. Ceramic figure of a female devil with exaggerated facial features of black bulging eyes, large protruding nose, teeth and ears. Around the back is a large rectangular red and gold wrap. In the arms of the figure is a suckling baby devil. Both figures have black horns, tail and feet along with gold spotted detailing and gold bracelets on each wrist. The side is incised with ‘Misterio F.M.'
