Etching1749/12

Etching produced in black ink. The scene portrays four animals on their rightful stance, on top of each other on the right side of the image and two birds on top of each other on the left side of the image. The form of the birds and animals are drawn and filled in almost entirely by horizontal lines and some crosshatch-like lines. Some of the lines are smudged. Inscription written on bottom of print with embossed artist's mark, on right hand corner, outside of image. Paper is between two layers of foamcore (sealed together) with a double black and cream coloured mat over top.

Man and CaribouNa1546

Two square shaped caribou with horns. Man on the right of the animals. The smaller animals under the caribou. The bodies have horizontal line markings. Bottom stamped with names of artist and printmaker in Inuit syllabics in monogram form with Cape Dorset stylized igloo in left corner. Canadian Eskimo Arts Council stamp of approval and Cape Dorset stamp blind embossed in lower right corner.
