Low-angle Block Plane1779/21

Low-angle block plane is a light touchup plane. It consists of a base and a handle with a blade that is adjusted by a knob located below the handle. The blade is set at an angle of approximately 12 degrees. A set screw on top of the handle holds the blade in place. A lever is located on top of the handle, above the set screw. A screw is located at the front of the plane, in front of the blade. An inscription is molded into the steel at the top front. The top of the base and the handle are painted.

Straight Gouge1779/19

A 3/4 inch #9 straight gaoge with a green and gold maker's label on handle: 'Henry Taylor Tools Sheffield England', and a dark blue mark that may be owner's initials. Tool consists of a metal blade with a finished wood handle. A metal cinch holds wood tight around the blade.

Drawknife Tool1779/18

Double-handled knife with long one-sided steel blade in the middle. The drawknife blade is sharpened on lower side only and inserted on either end into solid tear-shaped wooden handles. The sharpened blade is cut out 3 cm from handle.

Rectangular piece of grey coloured skin with four ties attached through horizontal slits along the long sides; rounded corners. Black, green and red paint streaks on the front. Inked on both sides. Some ties are sewn to skin.

Carving Knife1779/16 a-b

Part (a): knife with carved wood handle tapered at both ends. Stamped letters in three rows, 'RK FROST MORA SWEDEN'. Blade inserted in oval-shaped hole at end with groove. Opposite end has metal peg. Part (b): grey manufactured plastic case with tab for attaching to a belt. Word 'Frosts' embossed on front.

Tool Holder1779/15

Canvas tool holder with a hemmed upper edge; the other three sides are bound with twill tape. There are two pieces of twill on the left side that extend from the object. Covering one third of the holder is a strip of canvas at lower edge, sewn in vertical lines creating twelve, rectangular pockets.

Bent Knife1779/14

Double-sided curved knife with long wooden handle. The blade is attached to the handle by a cord that is wrapped around handle. The end of the handle has been shaved down and angled at the bottom into a wedge. There is a mark, 'GD' carved into the back of the handle and also drawn in blue ink on the bottom front of the handle.

Bent Knife1779/11

Carving knife made by the artist. Handle is hand-carved and has a basically rectanguar shape which is narrower at both ends. Part of the handle's neck is cut so a blade can be inserted into it. The blade has a long curved shape. It is inserted into the handle and tightly secured by fibre string wrapped around the top quarter of the handle.
