Lantern slide. Rectangular wooden slide holds a round glass plate at centre, surrounded on one side by a copper ring. Plate shows a monochromatic image printed on glass of a nighttime scene of a town at bottom, with tall architecture, trees, foliage and a river reflecting moonlight. There is a sharp colour separation between this and a dark sky, which holds a crescent moon at top. Paper label reads "Dissolving Views – Aurora No 1".

Lantern slide. Rectangular wooden slide holds a round glass plate at centre, surrounded on one side by a copper ring. Plate shows a coloured image printed on glass of an erupting volcano, fire and ash spewing forth, lava running down the mountain face, setting fire to a small settlement. In the middle ground is a town on the shores of a body of water, a crowd of town’s people watching the volcano, and small boats full of people floating on the water. In the foreground on a small bluff is a small group of men pointing at the volcano. Stamped in wood: "W.E. & F. Newton / Opticians & Globe Makers to the Queen...London"

Lantern slide inscribed "Water Mill". Rectangular wooden slide holds a round glass plate at centre, surrounded on one side by a brass ring. A deep grove has been cut horizontally into the wood on the back of the slide, with a small metal clamp opposite. The plate shows a coloured image printed on glass of river with small rapids. A man stands on the bank fishing. Behind him and to either side of the river are bushes, and tall buildings with white or yellow walls and red roofs. A dark sky with clouds and a full moon can be seen at top centre. Stamped in wood: "W.E. & F. Newton / Opticians & Globe Makers to the Queen...London"

Single lever lantern slide. A rectangular wooden frame holds two round glass plates, one on top of the other, at centre. On the frame’s back right, a large triangular groove is carved into the wood to allow for the up and down movement of a brass handle attached to the rear plate by a brass ring. The front plate shows a coloured, printed image of a man and woman harvesting wheat. The man holds a scythe. The back plate has a printed image of the man’s arm, his hand holding a whetstone. When the plate is moved by the lever, it appears that the man is sharpening the scythe. Stamped into wood is "W.C. Hughes / Optician / 151 Hoxton St / London".

Single lever, moveable lantern slide. A rectangular wooden frame holds two round glass plates, one on top of the other, at centre. On the frame’s back right, a large triangular groove is carved into the wood to allow for the up and down movement of a brass handle attached to the rear plate by a brass ring. The front plate shows a coloured, printed image of a winter scene, a woman looking out the front door of her house, bare trees to the right behind a fence. A man in ragged clothes walks by with his small dog. The back plate has a printed image of the man’s arm, hat in hand. When the plate is moved by the lever, it appears that the man is tipping his hat. Stamped into wood is "W.C. Hughes / Optician / 151 Hoxton St / London".

Quilted Blanket3000/2

Large quilt with a red and white checker pattern on front, plain on back. On each square are lists of names embroidered in cursive writing. The writing is in red thread on the white squares, and white thread on red squares. The quilting is stitched in horizontal lines across the piece, with the corner of each square done in diagonal lines thereby creating diamond patterns linking four squares.

Halibut Hook3000/15

Large fish hook in a ‘V’ shape, with a pointed bone barb lashed to the thicker arm, positioned inside the ‘V’, with wound cedar root. Lashed to the thinner arm at mid-point in a similar fashion is a short, twisted cord.

Ladle3000/12

Large wooden ladle. Bowl has flat base and is deep and long, with a triangular piece missing from the tip, and a small hole bored through the wood at the rear bottom. A slight rim line has been carved into the interior, just under the lip. Bowl's curve extends part way up the handle, ending in a long cylindrical grip.
