Mask864/1

A long wood mask with another piece attached at the back with bark to give it an oval shape. The light and dark brown and red face has furry dark brown eyebrows and long hair on string. The circular eyes bulge out at a downward angle and have silvery foil at the centre. Two curved pieces protrude from the bottom of each side and curve backward. The bottom of the mask is carved with grooves. Behind the mask there is a long piece of wood protruding perpendicularly.

A three-dimensional male humanoid figure puppet. Has a large head and jointed arms attached to controlling rods. The pink face is positioned forward with exaggerated features that include large red eyes with red irises, an open mouth with exposed teeth, and pair of overlapping fangs at each corner, red lips, and a blunt nose. Facial hair (moustache, beard, sideburns) and facial details are in black. Wearing a Mahkota (crown) headdress with large diadem, karawista, Garuda Mungkur (short-tongue) in red, and gold, pink, white, and black. Slight black hair extends from beneath the crown. The upper torso is corpulent with a large belly, uncovered except for a five-pointed blue collar. There is a pair of red and blue ornaments at the wrist and bicep of each arm. Both hands are clenched with thumbs partly extending. Wearing a skirt that has wide blue and beige horizontal stripes with the beige stripes subsectioned with fine blue pinstripes.

A three-dimensional male humanoid figure puppet. Has a large head and jointed arms attached to controlling rods. Head is canted upwards. The pink face has bulging eyes with red irises, a wide triangular nose, prominent upper teeth, and red lips. Facial hair (sideburns, beard) and other details are painted in black. Hairnet is in the Javanese style in black with white detail. Neck and arms are pink with the hands held straight out. Wearing a green close-fitting jacket that has a loose collar with a plaid skirt in yellow, red, blue, green, and other colours.

The red face and irises are positioned upwards with the mouth open to reveal prominent upper and lower teeth. There are fangs from the top row at each side of the mouth with overlapping fangs directed up from the bottom. There is a black moustache with other facial details also in black. Black hair (skull cap ?) and prominent bulge from the rear base of the skull. Heavy set torso with a large belly. Wearing a yellow skirt.

The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Red face tilted upwards; bulging white eyes with red irises, raised ears, blunt triangular nose, and black hair, moustache and beard. White teeth. Hair net in Javanese style (Hoofddoek); blue with light blue designs, black main section. Slim body clothed in purple close-fitting jacket with white yoke collar that has purple and pink dots and evident stitching. Skirt (kain) of checked cloth (green, blue, purple, yellow, white). Arms with pink and green ornaments at wrists and biceps; hands held flat and bent back at wrist.

The body has jointed arms, and the figure's right arm (part c) is detached. Each arm has a long controlling rod attached. Pink face positioned forward; bulging eyes with red irises, large wedge-shaped nose, wide red lips and prominent upper teeth. Fangs extend from top and bottom row at each side of mouth. Long hair, eyebrows, sideburns, moustache and beard painted in black. Crown (mahkota) with diadem (jamang), karawista, ear ornaments (sumping) and Garuda Mungkur; in gold, red, pink, white, black, yellow. Upper torso pink, uncovered; wide shoulders, prominent belly. Red, yellow ornaments on upper arms and at wrists. Left arm detached; hands held flat and bent back at wrist. Long batik skirt (kain) in yellow-brown, red and black.

A three-dimensional male humanoid figure puppet. Has a large head and jointed arms attached to controlling rods. The pink face is positioned forward with white eyes that have red irises. There are prominent white upper teeth, red lips, a beard, and other details in black. Brown material (felt ? synthetic ?) is tacked to the face as a moustache. The red cylindrical cap has gold top diadem (jamang), and sumping. Black hair net. Gold neck. The lower arms are brown (stained?) with the hands held flat and bending back at the wrist. The torso is covered in a beige tight-fitting garment with dark brown trim on cuffs, a yoke collar, and a shoulder overlay with fifteen gold-coloured sequins. String is tied around the headdress and the neck. A dark brown panel is on the front of the torso. Wearing a blue, purple, and yellow batiked skirt.

Quiver made from four pieces of sealskin stitched together with sinew there is a large opening at the top which is cut on a slant. The bottom has been permanently creased. There are eleven holes along one side, and through two of these are sinew cords which attach to a curved bone handle. Three smaller pieces of bone are attached for decoration.

Cable-backed bow made from wood and other materials. There are 2 places where thin pieces of bone have been attached to either side of the wood with copper pins, one has sealskin sewn over the top of the bone, and the other has sinew lashed over it. There are knobs on either end of the bow, around which 8 braided sinew cords are strung. The cords are lashed onto the wood in 2 places, and they are twisted and wound with sealskin in the middle section. (Bow string no longer attached.)

The triangular copper arrow point is inserted in a bone shaft and held in place by three copper pins with a wedge of slightly different material that has been added on. The bone shaft is inserted in the wooden one and lashed on with sinew. About 5cm. above this, a v-shaped cut has been made through the shaft and a glue-like substance used to hold it together. There is another cut about 30cm. above it which is held together with sinew lashed around it. The end is notched and there is sinew wrapped around it.
