Rectangular felt wall hanging depicting scenes from the life of Jesus. Multicoloured felt appliqué figures with talk bubbles stitched in yellow, orange, and pink thread on maroon ground. Rolled edges with orange and yellow whipstitching along the sides and bottom. Top edge is folded over and sewn to create a full-length loop for hanging.

Magic CircleNa1481

Stoncut and stencil print with a black and white border around the central design. There are two red, black, and white ulus with one at the top and one at the bottom. Two horizontal white hearts on each side. Between the hearts and ulus, there are four brown and turquoise fish like creatures. In the middle, there is a yellow circle with a black centre containing four small circles within circles. In the lower right corner, there is a small yellow image of a right pointing arrow emerging from a bulge pointing to pencilled syllabic. Pencil inscription across the bottom edge reads 'Magic Circle, A/P III/III 1971 Oonark, Seevoga'. Stamped with names of artist and printmaker in Inuit syllabics in monogram form with Baker Lake bow and arrow in right corner. Evil Spirits Surround the IglooNa1484

Inside the circle there are ten figures. The figures are leaning, touching or running toward the central figure. Outside the circle, at the top, two figures facing each other have red and green horns, one has one leg and the other has none. Underneath and continuing clockwise, there are two green and red figures reaching out to touch the circle and one green legless figure with a bird beak that has two arms toward the circle. A figure with a hunchback is reaching out to the break in the circle. Red and green lines radiate from all figures touching the circle. A figure on left hand side is aiming spears at one legless figure. Names of artist and printmaker in Inuit syllabics written in pencil. Canadian Eskimo Arts Council stamp of approval and Cape Dorset stamp blind embossed in left hand corner. In the lower right corner, there is a small yellow image of a right pointing arrow emerging from a bulge pointing to pencilled syllabic.
