Tall cup with a large bowl, narrowing into a cone-like base, with natural wood, and burned incised designs. The rim is burned black with two horizontal incised lines. There are four u forms on the cup bowl with incised squares in each u form. Centre is burned in a solid ring. The cone has five inverted v-shapes burned in two lines with horizontal lines in each 'v'. The base is slightly hollowed underneath. The cup is roughly carved from a single piece of wood.

Thumb PianoCa63

Thumb piano composed of a rectangular box with one end concavely carved and a series of metal tongues secured over a lateral bar at the other end. The tongues are held in place with strips of wood attached through holes in the wooden body, which is carved out underneath. A beveled peak ornaments the top end.

Seven equally spaced sets of four vertical incised lines in black separate rectangular sections of natural coloured horizontal incised lines with an incised horizontal line in black around below. The cone has four inverted v-shapes burned in two lines with horizontal lines in each 'v'. The base is slightly hollowed underneath. The cup is roughly carved from a single piece of wood.

Cup carved from a single piece of wood. The inside retains natural yellow-white, and has a roughly carved thick bottom. Rim of the cup is charred black. The outside of the cup has six triple-grooved curved vertical lines that are charred black with horizontal lines in between of a natural colour.

Cup carved from a single piece of wood. The inside is yellow-white, and the bottom is roughly carved. The outside is burned black and roughly carved in rings. Near the top are four yellow rings alternating with burned rings. The rim is burned as is the lower portion of the cup.

Small round fat container. Convex cowhide cap with hair on it. Cap is moulded onto top to form lid. Lower hide cover is tied to leather straps in five places. These are tied to a leather strip which goes around the upper centre. Has leather strap. Two lines of burned holes as design around the top half under lid. Also under the centre strip which holds up the lower cowhide cap. Has large black knot over double strap area.

Cylinder-shaped wooden drum, partially hollowed out. Two rectangular cut slits are notched along the circumference of each end. Two diamond-shaped extensions, possible handles. Burnt designs in circular and paddle shapes on body and extensions, burnt outlining at slits and ends. Roughly finished.

Demonstration backstrap loom (part a) with various attached and/or removable pieces (parts b-n). Part a: loom with front and back wooden loom bars with natural multi-ply cotton string warps attached; strings in dyed green and orange interwoven along inside edges of bars; dyed brown weft string interwoven for 13 rows of plain weave, the end of the weft yarn is attached to a pointed stick which is notched for attached yarn at other end. Dyed blue string attached to loom bars and interwoven to lengthwise selvedges. Part b: slightly curved heddle rod of shaved beige stick tied and wrapped by warp from weaving. Part c: separate shaved beige lease stick or bobbin with angled ends and longitudinal splits. Part d: slightly curved shed stick loosely resting in warp. Part e: separate wooden stick loom bar with knotted end. Part f: lease stick with numerous pin point holes, a rounded end, split 4.5 cm. in from end, other end is burnt and beveled. Part g: bamboo lease stick or heddle rod. Part h: separate wooden batten sword with pointed, triangular ends, rounded along one length, tapering to other side. Part i: separate large dark wooden loom bar with notched ends. Parts j and k: wooden support sticks around which green and orange string is attached. Green string loops (tied and glued) hold j to loom bar farthest from weaving. Part l: separate grey/white synthetic rope, burnt at ends with single knot near one end. Parts m and n: carved light wooden shuttles with pointed ends, carved out section with pointed stick through centre, two points at other end, 'J.L.' carved near end.

A closing fan with sixteen inner ribs of split bamboo and two bamboo parent ribs with a burnt design each set into a dark rosewood piece through which a brass rivet with a ring is inserted. Fan face is covered with white paper on one side only and is blank.

A closing fan with twenty-three inner ribs of split bamboo each with a butterfly(?) design burned on the base of each side and two parent ribs of bamboo each with a burned design. Each parent rib is set into a dark rosewood piece through which the brass rivet passes. Fan has light brown paper on one side only, on which a dinner menu in French is printed for June 10, 1929. Attached to the rivet, there is a knotted white silk cord, 17.5 cm. long, on which is strung an orange glass bead (red jade?). At each end of this, there is a knotted flat tassel of braided white cotton bound with gold coloured metallic thread.
