Model KayakA2.528 a-k

Model kayak made of mottled brown skin stretched over a wooden frame (part a). A parka-clad figure with face and hands made from carved walrus tusk (?) sits in the cockpit. Parts b--j are various model harpoons and gaffing devices--all made from wood, tusk, metal, and skin--strapped to the top of the kayak with skin straps. Also included is a dark brown model seal bladder float (part k) attached to the kayak via a skin harpoon line tucked underneath the human figure's right arm.

Fur quiver containing two smaller skin quivers and 40 small darts. Three of the darts have conical balsa wood plugs at their pointed ends; one dart has a metal arrowhead at one end; rest of dart have two pointed ends, one that is less sharp then the other.

A small piece carved into a cicada with ivory-coloured jade. Front side has two long vertical grooves along the centre, with two horizontal rows in relief at the other end which has three curves. Back side has elongated triangular-shaped section with five horizontal lines near the tip and three diagonal lines at the opposite end on either sides of the smaller triangular-shaped area.

Unpainted, but dark stained, brown-faced monkey with long snout that has two nostrils. Carved with three grooved lines around the face, and five vertical grooved lines in between the eyes from the forehead midway down to the eyes which are rounded circles.

Rod PuppetIb303 a-c

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part c) with a long shaft passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. The figure's face is glossy pink with black moustache, sideburns and caste mark. White eyeballs with black pupils; four gold teeth exposed. Yellow neck; black backswept hair outlined in gold. Light pink, green, red, and gold crowns; same colours repeated in elaborate headdress which rises at back to a form resembling a bird with a lolling green tongue. Upper row of jagged teeth . Figure wears black jacket, pink upright collar, edged with red on front; wide green band around waist, narrow red belt. Jacket sleeves have inserts above the cuffs decorated with red braid. Red cord at back of neck forming epaulettes. Orange shoulder sash; white vest, small yellow piece of fabric at neck line. Long batik skirt, coloured cream, brown and black. Hands yellow.
