Coconut shell container has bulb shape with an opening at its peak, and has a band of four parallel, horizontal lines with scallops below the band. Container has three darker ridges extending up the sides from the bottom centre. Leaf has been rolled into a cone to form stopper (part b).

Household shrine encased in a black boxlike structure. Front opening has two pairs of hinged doors. Predominantly gold, black, and red. Part a is the overall box structure; parts b and j are red railings; parts c and e are gold-coloured stands; parts d and f are gold-coloured candle stands; part g is a lotus-shaped stand; part h is a stand that apparently has had a (formerly separate) Buddhist Bodhisattva figure (N2.838 a) glued onto it; part i is a vase attached to its own stand; part k is a black fence; part l is a table; part m is a gold metal bracket for table; part n is a stand for table; part o is a stand with feet for encasing part a; part p is the base for under part o.

Open-top HoodEd1.289

Open-top hood made of purple floral-patterned silk damask with added ear-flaps of fuschia silk damask lined with white rabbit fur, with a loop at the end of one and embossed brass button at the end of the other. The hood is constructed of two halves sewn together at the centre of the forehead and centre back, but with an opening at the top edged with black piping ending with a short slit at the back. The hood is cut straight across the forehead with two deep scallops edged with black piping on each side. It is edged entirely with two layers of skin with black fur, one facing inside and the other facing outside.. A string of coral-coloured beads crosses the opening from front to back, ending in a broken jade disk at the back, below which are seven pink tassels wrapped in silver thread. At the front there an elaborate knot of gold cord, below which is a teardrop shaped piece of jade, below which are nine pink tassels wrapped in silver thread. The hood is lined with dull green cotton flannel.

Carved wooden wolf mask with a long snout painted red and black with white edging. The muzzle was hinged to the lower jaw and is now nailed shut. The face has white edging around the green ovoid with black eyes on white background. The head of the mask has been covered with a piece of hide. Ears are attached to the top of the head and are decorated with black spots. The inside of the mask is hollow with the exception of carved, rectangular shaped handle used to hold the mask when worn. The handle is tied to the rim of the mask with twine. The mask is painted black, green, red and white with stylized designs.
