Halibut HookNb626

Two piece U-shaped fish hook with bent shank and bone barb. Lashed with cedar root on either end. End without barb also wound with fibre and has a loop attached.

Model BoatNa1075 a-f

Wide, round-bottomed boat (a) with sharply pointed bow and stern. Frame consists of wood slats fitted and lashed together with sinew. Skin is tightly stretched over frame and laced down. Boat has oar locks, formed by two pegs projecting upwards, two on starboard side, two on port, and three wood thwarts. Boat has five long, carved wooden paddles: (b) to (f) each flare gradually from handle end to blunt paddle end. All wood of boat and oars is yellow-white in colour.

Coiled basket (a) has circular base with straight sides that taper at mouth. The base has small ivory disc with holes through which the baleen is laced. There are numerous spots where the thin baleen has broken off, the largest sections are found in the centre of the base. Raised circular lid (b) with an inner lip is topped by an ivory disc with a square knob.

Oval-shaped wood bucket; overlapped sides stitched with root. Brown painted exterior has two carved grooves. Attached by metal pins on both sides of bucket is a piece of walrus tusk with a hole in it and a hide thong tied to a walrus tusk handle.

Bowl-shaped ladle with handle: beginning from bowl's base, handle consists of two prongs which join one-third of the way up; carved with herringbone design and large oval-shaped octagon cut out near handle's tip. Stool carved from single piece of wood; seat is oblong with pointed ends, and is widest near the ends and narrower at the center with a slight dip towards the centre. The base is a hollowed-out, conical shape, which then extends into a relatively flat stem with slightly curved sides. Several copper staples overall. A curved, copper handle made of a thick wire with ends inserted through two holes in the stem and bent back to secure the handle. Slightly polished finish. Part a: base and part of seat. Part b: seat fragment.

Tobacco ContainerAj120

Small, pear-shaped container carved from one piece of wood with a leather lid and a long metal chain. Connected to the bottle on the centre and onto the lid by cotton cords. Also connected to the centre of the bottle on the opposite side. Centre has incised squares. Lines of blue, red, and white beads at the bottom knob. Lid has two lines of beads in red, green, blue, and white. Top of the lid has concentric rings of different colours. Smells of tobacco and has tobacco particles in it.
