The lower end has the head and body of a human-like form. The creature has rounded bulging eyes and a large open mouth, six horizontal ridges across the top of its head, and four long scale-like features around its neck. The upper portion of the body has an incised grid-like pattern while the lower portion has a crescent-rib-shaped-like pattern. Horizontal ridges go along across the back. The human-like form has oval eyes with thick brows above, a flat triangular nose, and a thin closed mouth while the arms rest at either side.

Creature's face at one end with jagged white teeth inset in a hollowed out oval mouth, circular staring eyes of inset pearl-like blue shell with black-painted pupils, wing-like eyebrows attached to the eyes, leaves that form the nose, and a long, slender moustache. Four oval panels on the width-wise circumference, each containing a human figure in European dress: two males, one wearing a wide-brimmed hat while the other is in a long-fringed cloak and a spherical hat; and two females in high-heel shoes and long, patterned dresses, one with a bustle. Fifth panel at the top has a slot opening. Incised hatching covers ground area while leafy plants and other patterned bands fill the other areas. Some openwork. At the opposite end to the creature's face, there is a hole surrounded by a ring and four evenly-spaced leaves projecting outward.

Two feathers have disappeared, the other two are still attached.

Handle is a flattened hexagonal shape, wound with alternating tan, blue, and yellow thread. Extremely small ridges at top of grip. Handle ends in a widened pommel with a pointed end. Blade has rough rectilinear patterns incised on each side (different) in mirror image around the central ridge. One side is typically parallel and perpendicular to the major axis of the blade; the other side is in diagonals to that axis. Overall dark brown; possibly a resin, oil, or other stain has been used. Probably chonta palm wood. Different geometric design on each side.
