Some painting on features; carved in a sophisticated style. Japanese calligraphy on the back; writing includes the name of a place: Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture (神奈川県鎌倉). Set of four hair pin-like objects made from ivory. Parts a and b each have a small, roughly rectangular ivory piece with black characters on it near the top of the pick set at a right angle to the shaft; part b is also capped by a circular ivory piece. Parts c and d each have a small pink shell affixed near the top of the pick and black calligraphy on the shaft.
Box (part a) and lid (part b) with red, blue, and white flowers. The box contains a small square platform (part c), a larger rectangular platform (part d), a round stool (part e), a silver painted bowl (part f), a solid cylinder with green, black, and red designs (part g), a red floral bowl (part h), a bowl with a solid green stripe (part i), a yellow and green striped bowl (part j), and a dark pink bowl (part k). Objects sit inside the box and are separated by a cardboard grid (part l).
