Cylindrical, twilled basket (part a) woven in a diagonal pattern with folded strips of grass. Has a string tied twice around the outside near top. Wadded up dark brown-green and black cloth (part b) is inside at the bottom. There is also a coil (part c) of plant fibre, possibly rattan?

Rod PuppetIb329 a-d

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part d) with a long shaft that passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The control rod (part c) from the figure's right arm has become detached. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Pale orange face, gold neck. Small black moustache, almond-shaped narrow eyes, narrow painted mouth. Headdress includes gelung supit urang, sumping, gold jamang, and Garuda Mungkur. Headdress black with gold, red, turquoise trim. Green and red painted necklace. Turquoise and red bracelets on upper arms and wrists. Hands at right angles to arms. Arms in two pieces attached with string at elbows and shoulders. String through palms to which sticks are attached. Wearing gold cross-over bodice, black apron with red fringe, silver and gold trim. Long gold belt hanging loose. Dark red cotton skirt. Head moves through 360 degrees.

Shadow Puppet3340/1

Prince Rama wayang kulit (shadow puppet) from Ramayana series. Flat shadow puppet cut from hide, with long arms jointed with pins at the shoulders and elbows. He wears an ornate outfit and crown. The tips of the thumb and index are held together, while keeping the other fingers straight (Mudrā). Operated by three horn rods.

Model Canoe3261/89 a-j

Model canoe (part a) with four paddles (parts b-e) and five figures (parts f-j). The boat is long, narrowing toward the ends, widest at midpoint. The outer walls of the canoe have painted designs in red, black and green at both ends and on both sides; the central area is unpainted. Five benches span the width of the canoe’s interior. The paddler figures are painted red, with black hair; all five are painted with green mask-like faces, with black eyes and red lips. The four carved paddles are painted with black, red and green bands.

Panel Pipe3260/62

Long, carved argillite panel pipe with a trading ship's "block-and-tackle" motif. At the front, a dog has a rope around its neck and is straining forward. Near the centre, facing the opposite direction, a man with a stylized Haida face is shown with his back arched, also straining or caught in the running gear. Flower designs on each side. (There is a white sticker inside the top hole.)

Frontlet3261/4

Rectangular carved frontlet with Thunderbird or other bird-being in relief; abalone inlay along both sides and across top, and used for accents on animal features. The bird has a recurved beak going into lower lip. Below the face are red human-like arms and hands with palms out, fingers upward, with abalone on each palm. The bird's mouth is open, showing a row of abalone teeth behind wooden incisors and red painted lips. The eyes are circles of abalone, under arched black brows. This supernatural being shares space with a small orca, whose dorsal fin rises upward and pectoral fins downward. Painted red, green-blue, and black. The rear of the frontlet is concave. Illegible hand writing on back surface.

Rectangular carved bird-like being frontlet bordered by a row of individually carved and painted human faces (representing ancestors). Central figure is a bird-like being by a long, recurved beak and human-like eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. Being has wings, sitting with claws inward. The eyes are circles of abalone under arched black brows. Two abalone inlays on each wing. The rear of the frontlet is concave. Painted red, green-blue and black, on natural wood.
