Painted wooden headdress; probably representing a bear. The long snout has a large black nose and nostrils outlined in red. The mouth is closed but the thin black lips are parted to reveal many white teeth. The eye is a white oval with a round black centre. At the rear of the headdress, a red circle and wavy green line are carved out on either side.

The tip is coiled with yellow-brown plant fibre, below which, there are the following: four sets of four small barbs; three sets of four increasingly longer barbs; and seven sets of four small barbs. The point is decorated with a red and yellow grass sleeve with a horizontal zig zag pattern around a central red diamond shape pattern, a carved band that is emphasized with white and that consists of two figures (each of which has circular eyes and a double upward pointing nose), and a fibre tuft. Below, there is another red and yellow grass sleeve that has a similar pattern as the one above. Bright red and yellow plant fibre coiling are at either ends of the grass sleeve. The red-brown wood shaft is plain and square in cross section.

Model Hunting CanoeA1528

Wooden model canoe. The stern of the canoe ends in a triangle shape painted red. The bow of the canoe curves upwards and extends to form a figurehead. The figurehead on both sides of the canoe has an eye outlined in black, surrounded in red dots and outlined again in blue with green eyelashes. The nose is striped with a green line, a black line and a blue line. A red zigzag line extends down from the figurehead. One side of the canoe is decorated with a black whale, a bird highlighted with red, blue and green and a black stylized animal. The other side of the canoe has only the black whale. The interior of the canoe is unpainted.

Model CanoeA8139 a-k

Carved model canoe with ten wooden paddles. The canoe is long and narrow with twelve wooden dividers and eleven benches inside. The ends of the canoe are raised; the pieces were made separately and attached to the canoe. The stern ends in a triangle with one added piece. The bow ends in tiny overhanging triangle with two added pieces. The inside of the canoe is blue with unpainted benches and dividers. The outside of the canoe is white and red. On both sides the name "Mermaid" and "Galiano B.C." are painted. The paddles are painted red, white and blue (parts b-k).

Standing female figure. Features are carved. Has tapering oval inlaid eyes, a nose, a closed red mouth, and a white line around the face that goes around above the eyes and angles downward near either cheek side. Hair is white in a grooved and upraised square pattern. Body is black. Armbands around the biceps consist of seventeen white bands below the wider red wood band. Belt is cream-coloured with red along the top. Ear ornaments are circular white hoops that have a black ridge around the middle. Anklets and bracelets are in white and red. Wood necklace is carved with five red bands and three white 'beaded' sections . Also has a deep pink-red beaded necklace with wiring. Has galvanized iron handle at the back.

Plain dark brown-black wood shaft with lime and red rubbed into carved areas. The base of the point has three horizontal, rounded rings; a downward pointed, truncated conical shape; a wide, horizontal, grooved band; a truncated conical shape; and a cone at the tip. Along the lower end of the shaft, there are is a rectangular shape with two horizontal, rounded rings at either end. Under this shape, the shaft bulges slightly and then tapers down at the other end.
