Coiled basket (with bifurcated stitches) in heart shape with imbricated designs of crosses on rim alternating in black cherry bark/grass or red cherry bark/grass. Body of basket has same alternating pattern of black cherry bark/grass and red cherry bark/grass in checkerboard diamond figures. Back is a triangle checkerboard. Few loops left of single strand looped border.

Goblet shaped coiled basket (bifurcated stitches). Watch-spring construction. Fully imbricated in grass and continuous bands of downward pointing triangles in red and black cherry bark with solid horizontal row on top of each, one in red and one in dark cherry bark. At base of bowl is one row of beaded red cherry bark. Pedastal has triangles pointing up, in red and dark cherry bark. Top two rows of goblet have dark cherry bark alternating with grass every two stitches. Rawhide tie around joint of pedastal and bowl.

Basketry TrayA3428

Circular coiled cedar root basketry tray. Inside of tray has a red maple leaf decoration in the center of a circle of black 'arrow head' shapes. The exterior surface of the sides are imbricated and beaded with red cherry bark and grass. Simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches), and watch-spring base construction. Two wood slats form the sides. The handles are coiled.

Short, squat, cylindrical basket (part a) with lid (part b) of approximately the same size and shape. Natural colour. Thin, flat, roughly circular discs have been woven into the center of the base and into the top of the lid. The strands which pierce the outer edge of the wooden inserts every few centimeters as they radiate outwards, joining the wooden pieces with the surrounding basket.

Tall, square-bottomed, jar-like basket. Rigid structure, square at the bottom with tall rectangular shaped body. Shoulders slope inwards to cylindrical neck which extends upwards approximately. 8 cm. Body is composed of vertical slats placed in parallel order around the structure. Slats measure 1.5 cm. in width and are placed approximately. 0.3 cm. apart. Slats are twined together at base, center and shoulders of body. They taper at shoulders and continue to lip of neck. Lip is finished with a herring bone stitch called 'iyugu'. Base is supported with rattan foot ring.

Basket (part a) of truncated conical shape with a knobbed lid (part b). Coiled body of basket overlaid with vertical strips of yellow, and brown reed. Mid-section of basket is divided into three by narrow bands of reed. The lid is light brown reed with dark brown reed incorporated in the knob at the top. Each end of the narrow leather handle has been pulled through top of basket and knotted on the inside. The basket contains a number of loose small white beads.

Tan basket made with interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches). Elongated watch-spring base construction, double-strand braided loop-work border, and imbrication. Total imbrication. Design consists of four horizontal rows of "half-pyramid" forms that alternate in rows in red and in black cherry bark, all against a bullrush background with two rows of red imbrication.

Rectangular flared basket with loop work border and coiled handle attached at sides with fibre. Slat base and body construction, bifurcated stitches. Imbricated design of continuous bands near rim and base, in grass and red cherry bark (upper) and grass and dark cherry bark (lower), that are stepped on each side. Rim is beaded with dark cherry bark, foot is beaded in red cherry bark and grass. Thin piece of black string tied at centre of handle.
