Dark brown coloured wood comb made from one piece. It has thirteen long, tapered, thick teeth, with uneven spacing and carving and some that are slightly angled. The handle is rectangular and is patterned with triangles composed of incised parallel lines alternating with plain areas. The two sides of the comb differ. Projecting vertically from two top corners are two plain, geometric-shaped standing birds facing one another, silhouette-like with long beaks; beak of one broken off.

A one piece yellow-brown shaft which continues into a dark brown rounded elbow-shaped end. On the opposite side to the elbow projection is a flat rectangular metal blade inserted on a downward angle, and perpendicular to the shaft in dark brown wood. The upper blade corners are rounded, and the corners at the sharpened slightly convex end are squared. 'M' is engraved on the blade's underside.

Container with flat wide bottom that has a narrowing neck and flat smaller top. Camel hide with brown white hair still on it, covering the bottom connected with five longer strips to a narrowed neck where a ring of leather is tied. Cap is made from hide connected with handle.

Long, narrow, gourd container incised with geometric designs and two human figures. Bottom has two plant motifs. Has a leather carrying strap connected to leather and is beaded with cowrie shells on the sewn side where it is tied to the gourd. Leather strap is connected to the lid and to the leather which goes half way up the container on both sides. Each side has four small holes where the leather ties go through to hold the strap.

Large brown, semi-brown yellow in areas, gourd container. Slants to one side, has no lid, and is unfinished at the mouth rim. Incised all over with human figures shown in cultivation and farming with two cows, as well as geometric designs of plants and abstract motifs. All crosshatched or lined.

Bottom covered with cowhide and with thin strips of the same hide going to the centre ring of cowhide around the neck of the container where there is a braided leather handle and cowhide lid moulded onto the container.

Bentwood BoxNb3.1349

Bentwood box, kerfs cut on both exterior and interior, fourth side pegged, now most pegs fallen away. Two shorter sides and one long side decorated each with panel of horizontal, finely chiseled grooves. Two smaller sides also have one vertical, rectangular area on right. These three panels are surrounded by border of vertical grooves. Remaining side is plain except for one vertical band of grooved diagonals down one edge. Base has split, leaving gap across width.

Undecorated bentwood box with kerfed corners, fourth corner nailed and horizontally pegged. Piece of newspaper stuck to interior wall near rim. The lid (part b), with an adzed surface, is thin and flat with one long edge projecting upwards on angle into large 'lip'. Lid has uneven fit.

Elliptical dark brown wooden bowl (part a) and lid (part b). The lid only fits partially over the sides of the bowl and has three plain, geometric-shaped ducks in a line lengthwise across top. Each is quite angled and abstract and the ends of the tail are incised. The heads and necks of the birds at the front and back are missing. The bowl has small, circular base, the sides flare gradually to a slight shoulder with a rectangular raised area at one end and the lip is angled on the inside. On the rim at each side is a row of incised triangles with the points facing inwards.

Thin brown smooth-backed wood piece. Narrow rectangular wood platform has on top seven metal tongues (keys), once nine, evenly-spaced in a row, placed lengthwise to the wood piece, and held in place by a lateral bar wrapped in metal strips that are inserted into the wood piece through to the back. Length of knotted hide strung through two holes at same end. Large hole in the middle of the wood piece. Lateral bar inserted in the edge with two loosely-wrapped metal bands. Carved with a main geometric design consisting of four parallel horizontal bands, from top to bottom: diagonal lines, opposing diagonal lines, four double-outlined u-curves, and four upside down u forms with diagonals inside.
