Plain cloth with blue cross-stitch and single stitch embroidery. Five medallions, centre depicts male on horseback, surrounded by flowers and butterfly. Medallion to viewer's right has cross in center surrounded by four butterflies and various flora and fauna around. Medallion at end has decorative square in center surrounded by four potted flowers and four deer(?) To viewer's left of center, medallion has insects and flowers. Medallion at end has swastika in a square surrounded by four large flowers and decorative elements. Potted flowering plants above and below center motifs. In bottom left corner, two persons and a mule, opposite corner shows bat(?) with four swastikas. Bordered on all three sides by band of embroiderey, two ends show butterflies and sprigs, bottom has repeating pattern with phoenix. Side borders hemmed.

Black robe with embroidered roundels. The centre opening has black frog closures. Around the neck and partway down the centre opening is a cream band with a pink flowers, green stems and blue trim. On the upper front and back are small roundels with cloud, four-toed dragon, pearl and fire motifs in blue, gold, purple and green on black ground. On the lower front and back is solid embroidery with wave, coral, fire, pearl and dragon motifs. On the ends of the sleeves are phoenix, wave and coral motifs. The inner lining is blue-gray silk.

Dark blue robe with an open weave. The robe has a round neck, tapered sleeves with hoof cuffs and a side opening with brass frog closures. There are slits in the centre front and back. On the front and back are four-toed dragons, pearl, fire, bat, cloud, mountain, wave, rhinoceros horn, circular and rectangular gold ornament motifs as well as the Buddhist symbols of good fortune and the Ji (luck) character. The motifs are gold, yellow, red, blue, green and white on dark blue ground. There are nine large dragons in all; three on the front and back, two on the shoulders and one on the inside flap. The collar border has a dragon, pearl and cloud motif on black ground, edged with a gold geometric band. The sleeves are black with a gold triple stripe pattern. The hoof cuffs have dragon, pearl and cloud motif on black ground and edged with a gold geometric band. The inside is unlined.

Kimono JacketN2.208

Black haori (羽織) or jacket/overcoat with designs on the lower half. The neck and centre opening are edged with a wide black band. The sleeves are short with hanging panels and an opening under the arms. There are family crests or kamon (家紋) in the shape of white paulownia flower in a circle known as maru ni gosan kiri (丸に五三桐), two on the upper front, one on back and two on the back of both sleeves. The designs along the bottom hem and sleeves have snow covered pine tree and wave motifs in green, blue, brown and white on black ground. The inner lining is blue with the same pine tree and wave motifs.

Blue robe with rounded neck, wide sleeves, side slits and side opening with brass frog closures. On the front, back and sleeves are dragon, fire, pearl, cloud, wave, ruyi sceptre, wheel of law, vase, umbrella, conch shell and bat motifs on blue ground. The border around the neck and partway down the side opening has a gold geometric pattern on brown ground. The sleeves have a border with bird, insect, bat and floral motifs on green ground with cream floral and brown geometric trims. The inside lining is pink damask silk with circle and bat motifs.
