BasketD1.338

Rectangular coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with attached flanged lid. Parallel slat construction. Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?), with "flying goose" design in alternating bands of red and dark cherry bark, with one cross between at base in dark cherry bark. Double dark cherry bark stitches at intervals along rim. Lid has two alternating rows of red and dark cherry bark beading, and alternating parallel rows of red and dark cherry bark on center of lid.

The bag is woven with natural coloured fibres in a geometric open weave design. There are three rows of the design with a row of black stitching on the first and third rows. Two twisted string handles are tied to the top edge of the bag in loops. A heavy fringe borders the three other sides of the bag.

One feather dyed red is in front in the first row with three feathers dyed blue behind it in the second row against a background of the main white feathers. Handle wrapped with woven copper fabric and a woven strip of cotton. Tassels of white feathers and fur attached to end of handle.
