Item Search

The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Fire Modified RockW1/16/5051

Rounded, fine grained ingneous cobble that is broken to form angular edges. Has appearance of a core, but it has hairline fissures running through it and red discoloration or staining, indicating that the fractures resulted from thermal shock.

Bar AbraderW1/22/4024

Grey prismatic pebble, square in cross section. Has one rounded end and one fractured end. Three of four surfaces along longitudinal axis are flattened, presumably through abrasion. Rounded end has no obvious evidence of manufacture or use wear.

Net Weight, Ground StoneW2/12/1493

tan cobble is flat with rounded edges around almost half of perimeter. Two opposing edges are notched with bifacial flaking; the remaining edge is a fracture scar (very steep - almost 90 degrees between scar surface and adjacent cortical surface.)

Fire Modified RockW1/17/3309

Igneous cobble is roughly triangular in cross-section. Object consists of two glued pieces, fracture scar on end of one of pieces suggests that part of object is missing. Two flake scars adjacent to open fracture surface; smaller fracture scars on opposite, rounded end. Compact, rounded area along object edge, near glued fracture is slightly depressed and smooth (ground). Portions of surface near rounded end are blackened.

Adze, StoneW2/22/2190

Flat, rounded pebble, triangular in cross section. Terminates in fracture scar at one end, tapers at the other. Tapered end is bifacially flaked (sharpened) edge. Two of edges along length of object show abrasive wear; third edge (and adjacent surface) exhibit pitting, suggestive of battering.
