According to Bergen's notes: "a face carved on the surface of a flat bottom oval-shaped river boulder which measures 10 1/2" x 7" x 7". This was found at the edge of the fire pit and was about 3 1/2" feet deep in the undug dirt. It was resting on the flat "bottom" of the boulder - that is in the upright position." LSP, 7/30/97

Mortar, Stone2001-102/2

The artifact was found in the 1940's by Tom Valentine's uncle. Was possibly used for grinding pigments, such as "Paint Pots" or "Paint Pallettes". Oval shaped stone mortar with ground off-set depression on one side.

Mortar, Stone2001-102/1

The artifact was found in the 1940's by Tom Valentine's uncle. The eyes represent a Classic Columbian River eye form with circular protruding eyes. As stated in Stone Age on the Columbia River by Emory M. Strong, "Characteristic features of this style is...the eyes are prominent and protruding, and surrounded with a bold orbital ridge (1959:page 117- 122).
