Large, carved crooked beak mask. Beak is long with a high black frill running from the brow; projects upwards and curves downwards to the top, tip of the beak. The nose is ovoid shaped and painted red surrounded by a pink split u within a large red u-form. The beak is long and pointed, painted black with a red mouth and white detailing. The beak is hinged with pieces of leather nailed to either side. The eyes are black and white, outlined in black, on a white ovoid shaped background; brow is black. The inside of the mask is hollow. The mask is painted black, red, and white with stylized designs.

Mask representing a frog with large bulbous eyes, a wide mouth with thick lips with painted crescent-shaped nostrils in red and white over the upper lip, and a movable jaw. There is a copper strip inside the mouth and the top and back of the head are adorned with a cedar bark fringe. Colours are red, green, white, and black.

Carved wooden, double headed Hamatsa mask consisting of crooked beak and raven mask joined at the back of each. Both have red, ovoid shaped cutout nostrils with red and white detailing around it. Both have a red mouth; one is long, narrow and protruding the other is flat, square shaped and protruding. On underside of crooked beak's lower jaw is a small carved thunderbird ? face with a beak that curves back into the open mouth; small bundles of cedar decorate the top edge of face. The eyes are black ovoids, outlined in white and red on a green ovoid shaped ground; the brow is black. The inside is hollow with the exception of twine which articulates the mask. Both masks have twisted cedar rope around the crown; crooked beak has cedar rope along the edge of the frill. Cedar bark and feathers decorate the top of both heads; tufts of eagle down intertwined. Attached to the top of the crooked beak are two black wooden horns that curl at the top; detailed with a red circle. The mask is painted black, red and white with Northwest Coast stylized forms.

Black, white and red Hamatsa raven mask featuring an elongated beak with a hinged lower jaw. Red nostrils in the centre of the beak are flared, open, and surrounded by a simple design. A thick, twined cedar bark cord is nailed along the upper rim of the mask, augmented by a loose cedar bark fringe at the back.

Carved wooden, crooked beak mask. The beak has red and white ovoid shaped nostrils with split u forms behind it, all carved in shallow relief. Running from the brow is a large, protruding, central black and white square shaped frill that projects upwards and curves downwards to the top, tip of the beak; detailed with a large cutout u-form. Curling from the top edge of the head is a smaller, circular red and white frill with a band of black u-forms. The mouth is red, flat, wide and protruding. The underside of the beak is black with two ovoids and a u-form. The bottom parts of the beak are hinged with rectangular pieces of rubber. The eyes are black, outlined in white and black on a white ovoid shaped ground; the brow is black. Behind the eye are two black and white u and split u-forms. The inside of the mask is hollow with the exception of pieces of fibre twine to articulate the beak. The top and sides have cedar braids and small bundles; longer strips hang down the back. The mask is painted black, white and red with Northwest Coast stylized forms.

Whale MaskA1596

Mask or headdress representing a whale with moveable dorsal fin, tail fin, and pectoral fins, a large flat mouth with a movable lower jaw, and cylindrical nostrils. The mask is painted black with concentric circles and ovals on the sides and head in white and red. The face is painted with black eyebrows,bordered in red and white, green around the eyes, black with an abstract white design on the cheeks, red and black designs above the white and red nostrils, black above the upper lip, and red lips. The fins are painted with designs in black, red, and white. Original tail flukes have been replaced by plain wooden carved pieces with painted and sewn cardboard cut-outs attached above.

Wooden, bear mask, carved and painted. The muzzle is hinged – with a piece of string on one side and skin on the other – to a lower jaw. The ties allow the jaw to open and close. Wooden ears are attached to the top, one is painted black, the other is unpainted and is a later addition. The mask is painted black, red, green and white with Northwest coast designs. The black paint covers an older red.

Running from the brow is a slightly protruding ridge or frill that projects upwards and curves downwards to the top of the beak. The mouth is red, flat, wide and protruding. The underside of the beak is flat and black. The eyes are black, outlined in red on a black ovoid shaped ground; the brow is black. The inside of the mask is hollow. The mask is painted black, white, red and green with Northwest Coast stylized forms.

Running from the edge of the nostril to the middle of the beak is a carved narrow cut. The mouth is red, narrow and protruding; the underside is black. The beak hinged with a rectangular piece of fibre nailed to the mask. The eyes are black ovoids, outlined in white and red on a green ovoid shaped ground; the brow is black. The inside is hollow with the exception of twine which articulates the mask. Attached to the top and sides are small bundles of cedar; few small tufts of eagle down intertwined. Small bundles of cedar along the edge of the frill. Small wooden handle is attached at top to secure mask to wearer. The mask is painted black, red, white and green with Northwest Coast stylized forms.
