The bag consists of one flat piece of material folded in half and stitched together along each side with a cross knit loop stitch, similar stitch used to finish top edges. The design is of repeating interlocking diamonds with interior diamonds bordered by v forms entirely cover material using a continuous running stitch; slight variations occur in colour and pattern with the interior diamonds. Red and green pompoms are tied to each bottom corner. Strap, twisted and tied at apex, ends sewn to each corner at open end of bag; design is a series of horizontal lines bordered on both sides by solid line.

The central design is on a red ground and is composed of repeating paired pattern of angular eight pointed star with interior design of four lines, pointed in centre and curled at ends, placed end to end around a square with a central cross. Along the centre are two, eight pointed flowers each having four, two leaf stems with diamond flowers, projecting in each cardinal direction; partial flowers and stems repeated at edges; each face has a different border design. Strap has alternating red and white cross and x design with a green border; folded in half along length; ends stitched to upper corners of bag.

Square cream cotton cape finished on two sides with hem-like stitch while the other sides have two equal strips of red flannel. Below the flannel is a stitched band of yellow stars on a blue, green and pink ground. That band is followed by a repeating bird pattern in red and blue. In the top centre are two orange stars with a red triangular pattern emanating from its points.

Shorts have a drawstring waist with an orange band around the waist and legs. The back is decorated with starburst and flower shapes with horseshoe shapes on each side. Front is decorated with horseshoe motif and male figure outlined in white braid inside. Around waist are rows of fine yellow braid, sewn by machine.

One side has a seated anthro-zoomorphic figure with head of elephant and body of man with four arms, each holding distinctive object. Mouse in front of figure. Lettering in an Indian script. On the reverse side is a seated human figure in ceremonial dress with four arms, one of which holds a spear. Peacock at the figure's left side. English inscription: 'Chithra Bag Works Madras-7.'

One piece, cotton fabric skirt with folded and stitched seams. There are small folds at the attached waistband; the ends are tied. At the base is a cross-stitch design of eight petal pink flowers in green octagons with orange borders. Above the band are seven frontal eagles with their heads in profile, there are two pointed extensions above heads with a long curl at the back of neck. Their octagonal bodies each have a central flower; fan-like wings extended to sides, triangular tail between legs, claws on legs.

Four of the squares are pouches with a partial opening at the top of each. All of the bags have a cross-knit loop stitch that finishes at the side and top. The cross-stitch designs are as follows (listed in sequence): a diamond pattern with alternating interior designs of squares or crosses; a diamond shape with a scalloped edge and a cross at the centre, each separated by smaller crosses; a series of octagons with concentric crosses at the centre and separated by concentric stepped diamonds; a flower-like design with four stepped square interior petals joined to central square and surrounding flower-like designs composed of z shapes around crosses; a series of bars with interior diamonds that join to create an interlocking diamond around Maltese crosses; a central cross with two squares forming each arm as well as a central square with five smaller squares inside, and these are separated by sets of four squares on a dark blue ground; facing 'c' shapes separated by stepped diamonds with interior crosses.

Shoulder bag with a square body and an off-white woven strap with a band of repeated zigzag lines in pink. The body has a geometric design composed of repeated floral and stepped diamond shapes. The top border has a series of pink and red crosses on yellow bordered in green.

The shorts have blue band around each leg and around waist. The back is is decorated with yellow and blue starburst patterns. Zigzag trim in fine white braid around each leg and three rows of fine braid also encircles the waist. The front has a starburst pattern and a stylized design in blue, white and gold applique and white and black braid. The waist has a drawstring.
